In its front-page editorial, the paper writes about the resignation of the US judge from the Constitutional Court of Kosovo saying that the move has led to many debates over the future of the institution in question. Although the Court announced that the work will continue as usual, there are doubts about its capacity and legitimacy in issuing decisions. President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, has extended the mandate of international judges in the Constitutional Court but now that the US judge is gone, there are only two international judges remaining. At the same time, one of the local judges, has been barred from political cases, and this situation puts the Court into procedural difficulties in the decision-making process. As things stand, Constitutional Court will have an increasingly difficult task in trying to resist attacks from parties that want to take over power by all means. “Constitutional Court is one of few mechanisms in Kosovo that has managed to challenge politicians by ruling their decisions as unconstitutional. Parties, big or small, have been affected by the Court but the latter has remained firm, until now”, the paper writes.
