Civic Initiative SDP, whose leader Olvier Ivanovic has been in detention in last nine months, stated that they expect Ivanovic to be released pending trial.
CI SDP said in a statement that even though case against Ivanovic and case against ‘Drenica group’ can’t be compared, they expect that court will decide to release Ivanovic pending trial, as it did in case of accused Albanians. CI SDP further added that there are no reasons to be afraid that Ivanovic might leave Kosovo and Metohija after prosecution has interviewed all witnesses, and after Serbian government has offered guarantees if he is released pending trial.
CI SDP concluded that any other decision would confirm their fears that it is not about legal, but politically motivated process against the interests of Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
