Kosovo’s Prime Minister Hashim Thaci posted on his Facebook account today that the verdict of the people on 8 June elections gave him and his party the right to form the new institutions. “The new government will be formed with respect to the outcome of the 8 June elections and with respect to the decisions of the Constitutional Court. The 8 June elections were fair, free, democratic and transparent. These elections were organized for the first time throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. They marked a historic success for our young state. Central and local institutions are wielding their authority throughout the country. The people spoke. As expected, the Democratic Party of Kosovo scored a clean, convincing and spectacular victory. Unfortunately for the country and the people, even five months after elections, the formation of institutions is blocked. The time when Kosovo was governed by leaders who always failed to score double figures in free elections is long gone. Kosovo needs stable, effective and broad-based institutions focused on creating new jobs for the people,” Thaci writes.
