OSCE launches anti-domestic violence campaign

(RTK2, TV21)

“Real men never hit women”! This is the motto with which the OSCE Mission in Kosovo has launched the anti-domestic violence against women. OSCE calls on victims of violence to report their cases.

With calls for reporting the cases of women abuse, the 16 Days anti-domestic violence campaign organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo was launched on Wednesday, with special emphasis on violence against women.

The campaign dubbed “Real man never hit women” features two professional fighters from Kosovo: boxer Armend Xhoxhaj and kick-boxer Marko Bozovic.

Reiterating the call for reporting the domestic violence cases, Neil Tobin, Head of the OSCE Mission Regional Centre Prishtinë/Pristina, said that violence against women is a widespread phenomenon anywhere in the world.

“Many perceive domestic violence as an internal family matter. Unfortunately, starting from this, many victims remain unprotected and many abusers go unpunished for their actions. However, domestic violence is not an internal matter; it is a legal issue, it is criminal action and as such it must be prosecuted. Therefore, we are launching this campaign to contribute to prevention of domestic violence cases and to raise awareness on the rights of the victim, as well as services at the disposal of victim. A holistic approach is needed to encounter this kind of violence,” Tobin stated.

Head of the Domestic Violence Unit within Kosovo Police, Tahire Haxholli, said that economic factors are the main reasons that trigger domestic violence.

According to statistics, 415 domestic violence cases were reported to Kosovo Police between January and June this year.

Molliqaj: AAK had secret deal with PDK

(KTV)

AAK was the first party to have agreement with PDK on government, and it was AAK that declared non-existence of VLAN Bloc. This was stated by Vetëvendosje Secretary Dardan Molliqaj in the KTV’s Rubicon show.

He spoke about backgrounds of almost six-month of LAN Bloc and Vetëvendosje, until the moment that Isa Mustafa finally entered coalition with PDK. Molliqaj considers Mustafa as the sneakiest person of politics.

According to Molliqaj, it was Haradinaj himself that on 18 November accepted that he had a written agreement with PDK designed by Blerim Shala, and which had the blessing of the UK Ambassador Ian Cliff.

Nevertheless, Molliqaj said that Isa Mustafa agreed to govern on rotation basis, but it was Haradinaj the one that gave up only a day after this proposal.

Women MPs condemn Gold AG’s song

(TV21)

Kosovo women, particularly those involved in political and public life, often are target to attacks and insults. The LDK MP Alma Lama is also one of them, and she has been negatively portrayed in the latest song of Gold AG singer.

Women Caucus of Kosovo Assembly reacted on this occasion. They consider that religious based hatred and public insults are unacceptable and requested from the judiciary to address this case properly.

On Tuesday, Lama has sued Gold AG for inciting religious hatred.

Ambassador of the Netherlands in Prishtinë/Pristina Robert Bosch also reacted against this song. He wrote in social media that the song contains language of hatred and that in a democratic society there is no room for hate songs.

Bosch wrote in his Twitter account that life, also in Kosovo, is difficult enough as it is!

Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north Serbs rally in support of arrested Serbs
