Miners suspend their strike

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Trepça miners have suspended their strike. The decision was taken on afternoon hours of Thursday, thus giving the chance to Government to fulfil their requests, for which they held a three-day strike, within a month time.

This was achieved after many hours of talks between the miners, management and Mitrovicë/Mitrovica mayor.

Although the miners addressed their requests to Government and not to Mitrovicë/Mitrovica municipality, Mayor Agim Bahtiri constantly stayed in Stantërg in the negotiator’s role saying that he is trying to convince miners to quit their strike.

However, before the miners decided to suspend their strike, it was mayor Bahtiri who expressed his scepticism that miners would give up from their strike.

Trepça leaders received a letter from the Prime Minister, while they expect to see their requests fulfilled.

Kosovo government, on the other hand, welcomed suspension of the strike by Trepça miners.

Protests against Jablanovic’s statements continue

(Most monitored broadcasters, TV21&KTV)

Thousands of citizens protested in Deçan/Decane and Malishevë/Malisevo with the request addressed to Prime Minister Isa Mustafa to dismiss Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic.

They warned Mustafa that if he does not dismiss Jablanovic than he will need to go himself. This was the warning of protesters in Deçan/Decane, where all the political entities, with exception of LDK, gave their support to this protest. The same thing happened in Malishevë/Malisevo, too. Protesters also supported the Trepça miners’ strike.

In the meantime, Kosovo Women’s Network (KWN), AAK and Nisma për Kosovën announced that they will support “Mothers’ Call” Association and will join the protest that will be held against Jablanovic on Saturday in Prishtinë/Pristina, TV21 reported.

Kuçi: Special Tribunal has nothing to do with justice

(RTK2)

Kosovo Minister of Justice Hajredin Kuçi considers that Special Tribunal’s set up is a political issue which has nothing to do with justice, and that the international community in Kosovo has failed.

Kuçi told RTK that there were no earlier cases elsewhere where the justice system controlled by international failed, like it did in Kosovo.

“War crimes that were under the control of UNMIK now are at the hands of EULEX. So, if they have failed, than it is a failure of the international justice,” Kuçi emphasized.

The issue of Serbian language implementation raised at the Assembly committee

(RTK2)

The Kosovo Assembly committee on rights, interests of communities and return held its regular meeting on Thursday. Work plans until the end of this year were discussed at this meeting, and the problem of the use of Serbian language by Kosovo institutions was also raised.

The only topic of discussion on Thursday’s session of this Assembly committee was organization of the workshop for the work plans.

Committee chairperson Sasa Milosavljevic, Srpska List MP, emphasized that staff members of the international missions will also be part of work plans drafting, same as all member of this committee.
