Dacic and Thaci at a conference on cyberspace in The Hague (Blic)

Freedom and security of the Internet are the main topics of the fourth Global Conference on Cyberspace (GCS), which begins today in The Hague.

Two-day event which aims to encourage practical cooperation between countries, businessmen and scientific institutions, harmonize international standards and norms of acceptable behaviour and explore ways to protect freedom and privacy on the Internet will bring together representatives of hundred countries and international organizations.

The conference will be opened by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and among participants will be Head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland and more than 40 ministers and secretaries of state including the Foreign Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci.

The event will discuss issues such as international peace and security and the problem of jurisdiction in cyberspace, the social aspects of technology development and standards of the Internet in the 21st century, and military-civilian relations on the internet, the protection of freedom and privacy, the fight against cyber espionage and crime and preventing cyber-attacks…

One of the topics will be and economic development based on information technologies, and the participants of the conference will try to answer the questions of how to establish a balance between freedom of expression and security on the Internet.
