Officials of Gračanica/Graçanicë municipality, assisted by Kosovo Police and special police units, did not manage to evict illegal tenants from a block of buildings in the suburb Padaliste in Gračanica/Graçanicë, who blocked the entrance to the buildings with their vehicles and locked themselves in their apartments.

Illegal tenants said that they will not leave occupied apartments and asked Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to help them, they also placed a message “Vucicu pomozi” (Vucic help us) at the entrance door of one the buildings. In the end, local authorities decided to postpone eviction and leave illegal tenants in occupied apartments until April next year.

Reflecting on the situation with illegal tenants in Gračanica/Graçanicë, vice-president of the Kosovo parliament Slobodan Petrovic voiced his concerns over the situation in Padaliste and the way that municipal authorities tried to manage the situation describing the action as unnecessary one. In a press statement Petrovic said that it is ‘incomprehensible that municipality did not manage to find the way to solve this situation”, and requested from local authorities to find solution that would be acceptable to both sides.
