The verdict for Oliver Ivanovic is not final. Lawyers will file an appeal, but Marko Djuric Director of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo believes that lawyers cannot help prevent a politically motivated process. “First, it should be said that there is something rotten in the Kosovo judiciary. It is not normal that the same people who have been proven to be leaders of the KLA terrorist group, are also seen as politicians in the eyes of the judiciary and the national and international public, while Oliver Ivanovic is labelled as a war criminal” Djuric said.
Djuric said that the guilty verdict should not be viewed in isolation from other developments and it sends a negative signal to Serbia and the Serbian people as it represents a public humiliation. According to him, Pristina is not implementing key elements of the Brussels agreement and in particular the agreement on the Association / Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO).
“The time has come to adapt our policy to the actions of other parties of the dialogue. There is no doubt that things should be resolved through dialogue, but at a table where discussions involve some concrete measures in favour of Serbia, and not at a table where only obligations are imposed on Serbia,” Djuric said.
According to him, Serbia remains committed to its obligations derived from the dialogue, but will not give up on what belongs to the country.
