In June, will be two years since the last parliamentary elections in Kosovo, where Serbs voted for the Serbian list which represents them in the Kosovo Assembly. During this period the Serbian MPS have been faced with many challenges, but these days, the Law on the Army of Kosovo is one of the current challenges, the adoption of which would open the door to formation of the Armed Forces.
The Non-Governmental sector criticizes the Serbian List that not enough was done in protection of the interests of Kosovo Serbs.
Kadri Veseli, President of the Assembly, called the Serbian List to be constructive in the parliament, stating that they should seriously consider the support to the establishment of the Army.
Nenad Rašić, deputy of the Serbian List, sees the establishment of the Armed Forces as another challenge, with which the MPs encounter.
Rašić says that it can be a challenge because the adoption of the law requires only a simple majority and that such a law would not be valid and would be against the Constitution. “Then, the Serbs should advocate for the idea, that the law on army cannot be adopted only with a simple majority,” says Rašić.
The Serbian national forum claims that Serbian deputies did not meet the expectations of the Kosovo Serbs.
“The role of this so-called Serbian List is shameful. This is something that does not look like a Parliament to me; something that does not look like MPs, they simply do not know what is their role, because they do not know what they should do or how they should do it, and they do not know the moment in which we live; I simply do not know if they know something at all,” said Lazić.
On the other hand, Rašić believes that their performance in the Assembly could be better, noting that and the Government influences the important decisions.
“The responsibility is not only on the MPs, because the government, as executive authority, has many more possibilities and has a budget and mechanisms that can help. So if I would give an evaluation for the Parliament or the government, it would be much lower, because you cannot see that energy and dynamics, which existed a few years ago, I think.”
Rada Trajković, the President of the European Movement and former MP, also has criticized the work of the Serbian List MPs. She said that in the Kosovo Assembly the voice of the Serbian List cannot be heard and that they behave as if everything is all right.
