The chairperson of the Serbian List, Slavko Simić, paid a visit to Sutomore and Podgorica in Montenegro where he met representatives and activists of the Alliance of the Association of Displaced Persons in Montenegro about problems faced by displaced population in Montenegro.

During a two-day meeting with representatives of the displaced, they informed Simić about dissatisfaction with their civil status in Montenegro and said that they are exposed to discrimination when it comes to access to civil and human rights. They also voiced concerns that conditions have not been created yet for the sustainable return of majority of displaced from Kosovo and Metohija, despite their will to return to their homes and reintegrate in settlements they lived before.

“This speaks about failure of the international missions, firs of all of UNMIK and KFOR, whose mandate was to provide safe living conditions to all in the province, and return to displaced. Even though we are not optimists with what we’ve seen so far, we believe that if Brussels exerts pressure there is still hope for Community of Serb municipalities to be established in Kosovo and Metohija, through which we see a chance to realize concrete returnee projects,” said chairperson of the Alliance of the Associations of Displace in Montenegro, Milenko Jovanović.
