Kosovo’s former KLA members removed from Interpol wanted List (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo Minister of Interior, Flamur Sefaj, reporting before members of the Parliament Committee confirmed that Interpol has cancelled warrants for detention of former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) who are wanted in Serbia over war crimes allegations.

Minister of Internal Affairs, Flamur Sefaj, reported before the Parliament Committee on Internal Affairs on Kosovo’s bid in Interpol. Sefaj said that the General Secretary of Interpol, Jurgen Stock, has assured him that Kosovo has no need to reapply for Interpol membership and all is needed is for the Interpol members include in the agenda of their regular meetings. In addition Sefaj said that he got confirmation from Interpol that a wanted list of ex-KLA members who are wanted by Serbian authorities over war crimes allegations has been cancelled. The list included Kosovo political leaders and personalities who during 1998-99 war in Kosovo were senior commanders in the KLA who fought against Serbian military and police forces.
