Vetevendosje parliamentary group chief, Glauk Konjufca, said in a press conference in Pristina today that, President Hashim Thaci should not have a leading role in dialogue with Serbia. “Vetevendosje’s position is that Serbia should choose the EU and not Kosovo, but Thaci is making it possible for Serbia to have both a piece of Kosovo and EU membership … Thaci thinks that by making concessions to Serbia he will postpone the special court for a couple of months. Every politician that would be offered a leading role in dialogue with Serbia, would certainly think it through and hesitate … We believe that President Thaci is using dialogue only for his own personal career … He [Thaci] declared himself leader of dialogue … Now that the President has removed the red lines with Serbia, the Parliament should set red lines for Hashim Thaci,” he said. Konjufca said the red lines should include the exchange of territories and he criticized Thaci for saying that the conflict between Kosovo and Serbia resembles the situation in Palestine. “We call on the President to not threaten the people of Kosovo with such cases,” he added. Konjufca also called on all parliamentary parties to jointly draft a platform for talks with Serbia. He also said Vetevendosje would soon file a lawsuit against President Thaci for violating constitutional competencies.
