KoSSev portal receives an award for ethics and courage in journalism (N1, nuns.rs)

KoSSev news portal from North Mitrovica the winner of the journalistic award for ethics and courage “Dušan Bogavac” for 2018, announced the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS).

Over the past years, despite all the challenges, obstacles and pressures, the editorial team has managed to defend the principles of brave, honest and independent journalism, reads the announcement.

NUNS, UNS condemned attacks against journalists in Kosovo (FoNet)

Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) condemned attacks against journalists during the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Kosovo over the weekend, insisting that responsible institutions should react, identify and punish the perpetrators, FoNet news agency reported.

During Sunday, in several, separate incidents, journalists from Insajder, Tanjug and DW were provoked and attacked.

Assembly of Serbia adopted a proposal from Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNNS) to appoint Zivojin Rakocevic as a member of Anti-Corruption Agency Board, Serbian media reported.

With this decision, a place representing the journalists’ associations in the Board has been filled after more than five years.

The media recalled, UNS and NUNS proposed Zivojic Rakocevic to be a Board member for the third time in July last year, while the first attempt was made in August 2015.

NUNS condemned “discriminatory attitude” of Srpska Lista, seeks Simic’s apology (KoSSev portal)

Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) in the strongest terms condemned the attitude of Srpska Lista toward journalists and media, KosSev portal reported today.

NUNS called upon the leadership of the Srpska Lista “to apologize to the journalists and the public over the irresponsible and insulting attitude of Igor Simic, who is on behalf of the Srpska Lista responsible to cooperate with the media (…)”.

Media urged to join protest on World Press Freedom Day (media)

NUNS, UNS and the Nezavisnost media branch trade union are urging media to stop broadcasting Wednesday within the "Five minutes of thunderous silence" campaign.

In separate statements, the journalist associations said the traditional campaign is a warning to the public about the never-worst position of the journalistic profession in Serbia.
