KWN condemns sexual harassment committed by Mitrovica Municipal Assembly member (Koha)

The Kosovo Women Network (KWN) in a press release today condemned the sexual harassment of a 13-year-old by Mitrovica Municipal Assembly member Bekim Muja. “Sexual harassment is an act that should be punished according to the laws in force, and in particular should be taken very seriously when the victims of this criminal act are children. Experiencing sexual harassment takes a heavy toll on the welfare of the victim, and when it comes to children, it may result in isolation caused by fear of harassment.

Opposition: We will not stop (Koha)

The Kosovo Assembly session was interrupted today by the opposition MPs who released teargas as a sign of protest against recent agreements with Serbia and Montenegro. The Vetevendosje movement MP, Rexhep Selimi, said the teargas in the Assembly today showed that the opposition is still united. He said the opposition will not stop until achieving its goals. “The opposition is continuing its protest within the Assembly. We will not stop. We will continue further in the same way with the same methods and above all, with the same goal,” Selimi said.

Ahmeti: Orthodox church, evidence of Milosevic’s goals (Koha)

Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti said in an interview for KTV on Wednesday that the Orthodox church in the yard of Pristina University must not be demolished but rather remain there as evidence of what former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic wanted to do in Kosovo. Ahmeti said the municipality of Pristina has not received any documentation for the church which was built by Milosevic’s regime. He said that Serbia does not want to recognize the state of Kosovo and that this is why they are not submitting the documents required for legalization.

As he gets ready to take on the post of Kosovo president, Hashim Thaci is facing mounting speculation of whether he could be summoned to the court due to open in The Hague this year, trying crimes allegedly committed by senior KLA members, Koha writes quoting an AFP report. AAK condemns attack on people’s property (Koha)

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), led by Ramush Haradinaj, issued a press release today saying that attacks against the property of the people of Kosovo, whoever they may be, members of parliament or ministers, are unacceptable and must be condemned. “We call on law enforcement authorities to do everything in their power and resolve these cases because in the current circumstances there seem to be prejudgments about the perpetrators and this too can be very harmful.

Coalition partners condemn fire-setting to car owned by LDK MP Beqiri (Koha)

Opposition might not use teargas at the Assembly (Koha.net)

Enver Hoti, member of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) spoke for KTV about the further steps of opposition to object Hashim Thaci’s election for President and to bring down the government. He said that they are preparing to send the issue of election of the president to the Constitutional Court and that they are preparing for the new protest. He added that eventual finding of irregularities on border demarcation with Montenegro will cause additional problems to Thaci.

Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri arrested (Koha)

Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri was arrested this morning by police in his flat in Pristina. In a press release, Vetevendosje said Ymeri was taken by force to a court hearing. “The arrest of the leader of the largest opposition party comes after hundreds of arrests of the Movement’s activists and MPs in the last six months. The reasons behind these persecutions are entirely political,” the press release reads.
