Kosovo and Croatia to work together on missing persons’ cases (Epoka e Re)

Representatives of the Kosovo government Commission on Missing Persons travelled to Croatia, at the invitation of the Commission for Kidnaped and Missing Persons in Croatia. The meeting held between the two committees aimed to concretize the steps in addressing the cases of common interest and cooperation, in the exchange of experience with a view to addressing the challenges facing the two countries in the process of enlightening the fate of the missing as a result of the wars in former Yugoslavia.

Trepca’s fate to be resolved within the next 20 months (dailies)

The Special Chamber of the Supreme Court has set the date of the 1 November 2016 as the deadline for the Privatization Agency of Kosovo (PAK) to submit the plan for the reorganization of Trepca enterprise. According to the verdict, PAK is advised to inform immediately Kosovo authorities for the financial needs, and for the engagement of the bidder for professional services in the procedure of Trepca’s reorganization.

Around 1200 women reported domestic violence (Epoka e Re)

The executive director of the Center for Protection of Women and Children in Pristina, Naime Sherifi, told the Anadolu Agency, that the economic dependency factor makes women powerless to be protected from domestic violence. According to her, in the last three years, the number of victims was around 1000 annually, while in 2014 this number has reached 1200 women who reported domestic violence. Sherifi said that in the Safe House in Pristina, last year were housed 470 women, victims of domestic violence.

Kuci in London, to participate at Global Law Summit (Epoka e Re)

Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Hajredin Kuci, has traveled on Sunday for London, where he was invited by the United Kingdom’s Minister of Justice, Lord Chris Grayling, to participate at the Global Law Summit. The Summit is organized under the patronage of the Government of the United Kingdom, which gathers justice leaders from the entire world as well as eminent figures such as judges, lawyers and academics.  This even also marks the 800 anniversary of the Great Charter of the Liberties, Magna Carta.

Former Trepca director: Do not politicize Trepca (Epoka e Re)

The former director of the Trepca mining complex, Ferat Shala, urged the opposition parties not to politicize this enterprise. He said that Trepca issue cannot be resolved in the streets, but in Kosovo institutions by hiring experts to do so. According to Shala, Trepca should not be discussed in any way with Belgrade. “Trepca mining complex should not be a topic of discussion in the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue. Kosovo shouldn’t discuss its properties with anyone,” said Shala.

Bloc representatives to attend meeting with Brovina (Epoka e Re)

Parties of the coalition bloc will finally accept the invitation to a meeting called by Flora Brovina, chairperson of Kosovo Assembly’s constitutive session. “The bloc will send its representatives to the meeting. Vjosa Osmani and Donika Kadaj-Bujupi will represent parties of the coalition bloc at the meeting called by Flora Brovina,” a member of the coalition bloc told Epoka e Re.

Hoxhaj: Two countries will soon recognize Kosovo (Telegrafi)

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, said that independence of Kosovo will soon be recognized by two more countries. Hoxhaj told Epoka e Re that Kosovo has gained a number of recognitions this year that proved the process is unstoppable.

“I expect certain countries to decide to recognize Kosovo by the end of the year”, said Hoxhaj adding that 2014 was more a year of multilateral diplomacy and that a priority was to gain membership in different international organisations.

 

Hoti: No coalition with PDK (Epoka e Re)

Avdullah Hoti, member of the presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), said his party would not join a coalition government with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). Hoti’s statement comes after PDK senior official Rrustem Mustafa told Epoka e Re daily newspaper that a PDK-LDK coalition would be functionalized in the next couple of days. “He (Rrustem Mustafa) is expressing only his wish. The LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition will form the government, without the PDK. This is a done deal,” Hoti told the paper today.
