Thaci: Kosovo, home to all its citizens (Telegrafi)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said at the meeting of the Consultative Council for Communities that inter-community dialogue is one of his main priorities and that Kosovo is a home to all its citizens. “This year we have managed to promote dialogue even more,” Thaci said adding that he supports the idea of increasing the budget for the Consultative Council for Communities.

KLA veterans’ associations launch petition against specialist chambers (Telegrafi)

Head of the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans’ Association, Hysni Gucati, said in a press conference that they consider the specialist chambers to be a biased institution and that it needs to try all those that have committed crimes, including Serbs. Gucati said they have decided to launch a petition against the specialist chambers to have the Assembly reexamine the issue.

 

CEC certifies election results in 12 municipalities (Telegrafi)

The Central Election Commission has certified runoff election results for the municipalities of Gjakova/Djakovica, Gjilan/Gnjilane, Dragash/Dragas, Kaçanik/Kacanik, Kamenicë/Kamenica, Mitrovica, Obiliq/Obilic, Podujevë/Podujevo, Shtime/Stimlje, Suharekë/Suva Reka, Vushtrri/Vucitrn and Malishevë/Malisevo, and certified the revote results for the municipality of Partesh/Partes.

LDK and AAK both to appeal against Istog election ruling (Telegrafi)

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa, said in a press conference that the decision of the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) for a revote in the municipality of Istog is not what the party requested when it appealed against the mayoral results that showed the candidate of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) winning 19 November runoff election.

The Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) has approved the request by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) to annul results of runoff mayoral elections in the municipality of Istog. Head of ECAP, Mule Desku, confirmed the decision and said that the Central Election Commission is now tasked to organise a revote in the municipality.

Daka: Final runoff election result to be announced on Wednesday (Telegrafi)

Head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valdete Daka, said that they will not be announcing final results of the second round of mayoral voting today but rather on Wednesday. “Final results for all municipalities will be announced Wednesday morning,” Daka said adding that the timing is linked to possible complaints that political parties may submit to the Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP).

Police: We have not received arrest warrant for MPs (Telegrafi)

The Basic Court in Pristina has issued on Wednesday an arrest warrant for three Vetevendosje MPs, Albin Kurti, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi and Albulena Haxhiu.

Judge ordered their arresting and detention measures due to their absence from the court session with regards to throwing tear gas at the Assembly.

However, Kosovo Police has not received the Court’s arrest warrant so far. “We as police, have not received any kind of arrest warrant,” said Police Spokesperson Flora Ahmeti.

Gender equality overshadowed in local elections (RTK/Telegrafi)

RTK and Telegrafi both carry a statement issued by the Prizren-based initiative for women’s rights, FEMaktiv, saying that gender equality was overshadowed in local elections while the entire campaign was dominated by men. “In 2013 local elections only 9 of 224 mayoral candidates were women. In 2017 elections, only 8 of 204 candidates were women. Despite many initiatives undertaken by the civil society regarding gender equality, they were not reflected in reality,” FEMaktiv said.

Supreme Court refuses Serbian List appeal on Partesh/Partes revote decision (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Supreme Court has refused the appeal from the Serbian List against the decision of the Election Complaints and Elections Panel (ECAP) to repeat local elections in the municipality of Partesh/Partes. Supreme Court spokesperson, Antigona Uka-Lutfiu, said the Serbian List’s request for annulment of ECAP decision has been rejected.
