The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said at a panel for transformation of the Kosovo Security Force that works on this matter have been going on for 17 or 18 years now. He also added that Kosovo was very close to this transformation in 2014, adding that at that time, international community also supported the transformation. Thaci said that Serbia is impeding every initiative of Kosovo. “We cannot accept to coordinate and consult Serbia on Kosovo’s army,” he said.

British historian, reporter and publicist, James Pettifer, wrote on his Twitter account today that Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s decision to undertake all necessary actions for transforming the Kosovo Security Force into the Kosovo Armed Forces will help regional stability. “Good. A long overdue move which will help regional stability,” Pettifer tweeted.

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission intends an internal reconciliation between Albanian and Serb communities.

During his speech at the second meeting of this commission, Thaci said that this process is  separate from the one of the discussions with Serbia in Brussels, but it will help on reaching new agreements.

Tomorr Qela, representative of the government of Kosovo during the measuring of the territory of Kosovo, invited all those who have opposed the demarcation process, to go to the government hall where the material is exposed and then reach a conclusion. He added that the Commission has been absolutely transparent and monitored by the representatives of the U.S. Embassy, EU and KFOR. The Commission re-confirmed that the territory of Kosovo measures 10 thousand and 905.25 square kilometers.

Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said during her speech at the European Countries Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committees Summit that Russia is trying to impact negatively in the region. “In addition to the internal agenda of the countries of the region, we are also dealing with some geopolitical ambitions. Here I am speaking about Russia, which has openly expressed ambitions to increase impact in the region. Therefore, we have to increase our cooperation to show that our region is Euro-Atlantic,” Tahiri said.

Two weeks after the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, sent a letter to the Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, to inform him that the appointment of the Customs Director based on the memorandum signed with the British Embassy, is illegal, the Ministry of Finance came out with a clarification which stresses that all foreseen parameters for the position were respected.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, addressed the people of Kosovo to congratulate them for the anniversary of the declaration of the independence of Kosovo. However, he had special congratulations for the leader of the Alliance for Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj. “I especially congratulate for this anniversary, this time, the former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Ramush Haradinaj who is being kept unjustly out of the country, based on an arrest warrant of Serbs who committed systematic crimes in Kosovo,” Mustafa wrote.

Head of the Vetevendosje Parliamentary Group, Aida Derguti, reacted to the publication of her letter addressed to the ITU, by the Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri. During the today’s Assembly session, she accused Minister Tahiri for deceiving the Kosovo population. “With the publication of the letter, Edita Tahiri tried to lie the public, as she has learned to do about the dialogue,” Derguti said.

Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Peja, are protesting in Rugova against the manner of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro. They said that the recently established Commission has put the signs two days ago. “We have always defended these mountains by shedding blood and if required, we would do the same again,” said the head of the Association of Peja Veternas, Gazmend Syla.

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said today at the Assembly that healthcare and education are among the top priorities of his government and that investments in these areas will increase in the coming period. Mustafa said the government of Kosovo was planning to launch health insurance early this year but considered more preparations were necessary. “We think the deadline needs to be extended for another six months to provide time for collection of premiums,” Mustafa said.
