Paunovic called on the UN to determine the human rights situation in Kosovo (Tanjug, Vecernje Novosti)

Belgrade based Tanjug news agency reports that Serbia from 2013 until now requested from the eight contracting bodies of United Nations that UNMIK reports on the application of the standards of valid conventions on the territory of Kosovo. Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights Suzana Paunovic said yesterday and called on the UN Human Rights Council to inspect the human rights situation in that part of territory, reports the agency.

Gjilan/Gnjilane Mayor, Lutfi Haziri, met Caroline Onekalit from the UN Office in Kosovo’s community support and signed a memorandum of understanding regarding a USD 27,000 investment in public infrastructure in areas where different communities live. Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic says the reaction of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj was "completely unacceptable."

As previously reported by Prva TV, Pristina definitely refused Belgrade's cooperation in the investigation into the murder of Oliver Ivanovic.

Stefanovic said on Thursday afternoon that the reaction of Haradinaj and of the minister of justice of the Pristina institutions was "completely unacceptable."

Next year Kosovo is expected to chair the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). Kosovo’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, told Radio Free Europe that Kosovo will be presiding only under the name Kosovo, without UNMIK acronym. He added that representatives of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo will not be participating at CEFTA meetings either.

A few weeks ago official Pristina threatened that it would leave CEFTA if presented as UNMIK.
