International institutions mediated for Gorani pupils (Vecernje Novosti)

In the elementary school "Zenuni" in the village of Brod, near Dragas, in Gora the classes for pupils are divided according to two curriculums, the Serbian and Kosovo. In addition, students on Sar Planina now attend classes in Bosnian language. “Our school has 115 students, out of which 80 attend school in Serbian language,” says Nijazija Sar, the school director who works according to Serbian curriculum.

Gjilan/Gnjilane breaking stereotypes about women (Zeri)

The municipality of Gjilan/Gnjilane is breaking stereotypes about women as it is the first municipality in Kosovo to elect a woman as President of the Municipal Assembly. Valentina Bunjaku-Rexhepi, President of the Gjilan/Gnjilane Municipal Assembly, said on Wednesday that this municipality is serving as a model for promoting the position of women. Bunjaku-Rexhepi talked about her political career in a debate organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) where women from different municipalities had the opportunity to share their experiences.

Serbia can be neutral mediator in crisis (B92, Tanjug)

 Lamberto Zannier believes that Serbia, as the next chairman of the OSCE, "will be able to continue Switzerland's efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine." "Neutral Switzerland chairs the OSCE this year, and Serbia - an official candidate for membership in the EU - will replace it during 2015," reports the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. "Serbia is in a good position to play the role of an honest broker under the difficult conditions of a rift between East and West. OSCE concerned about the safety of journalists in Kosovska Mitrovica (Blic)

OSCE representative for media freedom Dunja Mijatovic condemned the attack on journalists, during demonstrations in Kosovska Mitrovica, and expressed concern for their safety. She also requested guaranteed security for the journalists who report from the demonstrations.  In the statement, which refer to the media reports, was stated that journalists Behar Mustafa (BIRN), Faton Ismajli (Online Express) and Kajtaz Gecaj (Zeri) were attacked while they were reporting from the demonstrations in Kosovska Mitrovica, and that they were attacked by protesters.

OSCE: Ensure full compliance with the Law on Use of Languages (KiM radio)

"Municipalities in Kosovo should more respect the Law on Use of Languages," was concluded in the report, which was presented by the OSCE mission in Pristina.  The report highlighted concerns about written translation of materials from public meetings, signs on public buildings and roads, as well as inconsistencies in the employment of officials of public administration, which should fluently speak both official languages, Albanian and Serbian.
