Liaison Officers, opportunity for an open communication (TV Most)

One of the most tangible results of the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade was appointment of two liaison officers, the Belgrade’s one in Pristina and Pristina’s in Belgrade, stated the European Union Special Representative in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar. “That doesn’t have only the symbolic significance, but it offers the chance for an open communication between two sides. Belgrade’s liaison officer, Mr Dejan Pavicevic works in the building of the EU Office in Pristina, what enables better ways of direct communication.

The EU Office without translation into Serbian language (KIM radio)

Deputy of the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon, spoke in an interview for Radio Dukagjini about the “Peace Park” set immediately after the removal of the barricade over the River Ibër/Ibar bridge. “I would urge both p[arties, Albanians and Serbs, to restrain from violence and clashes. Normal flow of life in Kosovo is extremely important. Also it is very important for this barricade to be removed as soon as possible, because it is being proved that the situation there, with this “Peace Park” could escalate,” said Fajon.

German MP: Serbia has not met the requirements (Blic)

MP of Christian Democrats (CDU) in the Bundestag Johan Vadepul said that Serbia has not fulfilled the conditions of the road to the EU. In order to open the first chapter, it is important to complete the process of normalizing relations with Kosovo.  Vadepul said that his parliamentary group CDU CSU is not completely happy with fulfillment of the requirements that were set before the Serbian government, among other things, the relationship with Kosovo and the attack on the embassy of Germany (2008).

EU requests continuation of dialogue with Serbia (Lajm)

The Office of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, has confirmed its stance that talks between Pristina and Belgrade should continue. The spokesperson of Baroness Ashton, Maja Kocijancic, said that whoever becomes the head of the government should continue the negotiation process with Belgrade, aimed at the normalization of relations. Kocijancic told Radio Dukagjini that the new government should also implement previously reached agreements.

Haradinaj or Thaci, EU expects dialogue to resume (Koha)

The paper reports on the front page that Brussels expects Pristina to show the same commitment to dialogue with Belgrade, regardless of who will lead the next government in Pristina. Talks with Belgrade have become a topic in discussions for the formation of the new government. One of the conditions of the Vetevendosje Movement for the eventual Haradinaj government is to suspend negotiations with Belgrade. Analysts too agree that the time has come to set some basic principles and not talk with Belgrade without securing an equal position on inter-state matters.
