Veseli: Assembly on Friday to decide on visa liberalization issues (Koha)

The President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, confirmed after the meeting with the heads of parliamentary groups that the regular plenary session will be held on Friday at 10:00 hours. They will discuss 22 points of the agenda.

“We are continuing with a positive atmosphere. Being that tomorrow is a special day, we congratulate citizens for the eighth anniversary of the independence,’ Veseli said.

EU: Differences cannot be solved in a single meeting (RTK)

The European Union Office in Kosovo issued a statement commending the meeting President Atifete Jahjaga held today with the representatives of the main political parties of Kosovo. The EU High Representative Samuel Zbogar said that complex political differences cannot be solved in a single meeting but it is important for the leaders to continue to operate in a European way of solving problems through dialogue and compromise. “There is no alternative to dialogue,” Zbogar said.

Djuric: Top government positions for Serbs of Kosovo (Vecernje Novosti)

The Serbian List will decide whether Serbian candidates will present themselves for President of Kosovo. The Albanian political elite in Pristina needs to get used to the fact that the Serbs have a right to be part of decision-making in the province and that they cannot only be political decor that contributes to creating the false image of a multi-ethnic society, said Marko Djuric, Director of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo.

Van Den Dool: No one ever requested Serbia to recognize Kosovo (Blic)

Ambassador of the Netherlands to Serbia Hendrik Van Den Dool said that "so far no one has requested Serbia" to recognize the independence of Kosovo, following the end of the negotiation process with the EU. The Netherlands assumed presidency of the EU Council in January. In an interview with "Newsweek", the Ambassador  said that such a request cannot be expected, because there are countries in the EU that have still not recognized Kosovo's independence.

Collaku briefs EU ambassadors on implementation of visa liberalization criteria (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration, Bekim Collaku, met with ambassadors of EU member states today and briefed them on the implementation of the eight outstanding requirements on the visa liberalization road map and the steps Kosovo institutions will take in the coming weeks. EU ambassadors are reported to have acknowledged the commitment of Kosovo institutions to the process and reaffirmed the support of their respective countries.

Five EU countries are resisting (Vecernje Novosti)

Five EU members that have not recognized Kosovo's independence are under pressure to change their position. Most recently the pressure has been from PACE resolution that has called upon the five member states to recognize Kosovo. As Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said to Novosti, one of the Serbian priorities is that Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Cyprus retain their current positions.

MPs of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament have adopted a resolution on Serbia and Kosovo, welcoming the opening of negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the EU and progress in the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, noting that the recognition of Kosovo, by five EU member states, would help in improving those relations.
