The unemployment of non-majority communities in Kosovo (RTK2)

The employment of members of minority communities in public institutions at the central level is not satisfactory, some representatives of the Turkish and Bosniak communities say. Others assess that the situation has improved in recent years.

Unemployment in Kosovo is a long-standing problem. According to the official data of the Kosovo Statistics Agency, in the second quarter of this year, the unemployment rate was 29.4 percent, while in the first three months it was 26.5 percent.

New protests in Vranište over hydro power-plant reconstruction (RTK2)

RTK 2 reported on a protest by the citizens in the village of Vranište, Dragash/Dragaš municipality over reconstruction of a hydro power-plant. As Šukrija Aslani, stated to RTK 2, contractor commenced the work, although court decision is still pending.

“Hydro power-plant should be placed at 49 land parcels, privately owned. The contractor wants to go through these parcels, and we have no insight into it, where and how it will be done, and we do not have documentation about it,” Aslani said.

Gorani seek dismissal of Adem Hoxha (KIM radio)

Citizens' Initiative of Gorani seek from the President of Serbia and the Government to dismiss president of the Interim body of the Government of Serbia for the municipality of Gora Adem Hoxha, because, as they say, abuse of the office and threats to Gorani, report KIM radio.

KIM radio reports that the announcement of the Initiative states that Hoxha by abusing the office threatened Gorani that they will lose job, pension, health and social security, if they do not vote for his list in the Sunday's elections.

Gorani seek Vučić's help (Blic)

Citizens’ Initiative of Gorani said that the president of the interim authorities in the municipality of Gora in Kosovo Adem Hoxha threatened Gorani in this community with losing their jobs and pensions from Serbia, if in the upcoming elections they do not vote for his political option, Blic reported yesterday.

The initiative strongly condemned threats of Hoxha and expect quick response of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

The second day of protests in Gora (TV Most, Radio Gračanica)

Villagers of Vranište in Gora protested at the site where a few days ago began the construction of hydropower plant. The construction takes place on private land on the river in the village.

Villagers of Vranište several days peacefully protest and say they are not informed of the expropriation, nor did they have access to documents. In this way, their private property is taken, say the villagers, because the work is carried out on parcels in their ownership.

SNS and Gorani won in elections held in the municipality of Gora (Kontakt plus radio)

The electoral list Aleksandar Vucic Serbia won in the municipality of Gora in Kosovo with 78 per cent of the vote, stated the Gorani Citizens' Initiative.

SPS got 11 per cent and the DS three per cent of the vote.

"The Citizens Initiative of Gorani, as the only political and national organization of Gorani, shares the same values with the president of the SNS, Aleksandar Vucic," said the Initiative.

Maric: The formation of new municipalities is political issue (KIM radio)

The Ministry of Administration and Local Self Government received around 30 requests for establishment of new municipalities in Kosovo, among them the requests for the formation of the Gora municipality and Priluzje.

Minister of Administration and Local Self Government Ljubomir Maric said that the formation of new municipalities in Kosovo was political issue that requires consultation with all coalition partners.

The existence of Gorani in Kosovo is ignored (RTK2)

A representative of the Gorani community Avni Bahtiari warned on departure of Gorani from Kosovo and the lack of representation in the institutions. Avni Bahtiari told RTK2 that Gorani which are living abroad will be assimilated, pointing out that more and more people are choosing to live in developed European countries, because of the poor economic situation and the position of Gorani in Kosovo society.
