EU foreign policy Chief Federica Mogherini was "extremely worried" as the situation with the Belgrade-Mitrovica train "could have escalated."
Mogherini said this on Monday afternoon while addressing reporters after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said for Radio Free Europe that “Serbia does not have any role on establishment of the Association for Serb-majority Municipalities.” According to her, Serbian representatives do not have the authority to deal with the issue. “It is not up to Serbia to impose dates or make pressure,” she said.
Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said that the intention of the dialogue with Serbia in Brussels is reciprocal recognition of statehood.
Slavko Simic, head of the Serbian List parliamentary group, said in his address at the Kosovo Assembly today that Serb MPs will continue to oppose the law on the Trepca mining complex. “The Serbian List will continue to oppose this law because it was done without consultations with Serbs. We were not able to protect our interests. These laws are not good for the Serb community. We are here in the Assembly to protect our interests and only with work and honesty we can overcome the current problems and regain trust,” he said.
Kosovo’s Minister for dialogue, Edita Tahiri, assessed on Tuesday that the time has come to change the format of the dialogue with Serbia. She stated that the next phase of the dialogue should be the closing of this process. In an interview for the paper, Tahiri defended the dialogue process held in Brussels, saying that it had brought many benefits to Kosovo. According to her, this process has contributed significantly in fulfilling the strategic objectives of the government, on strengthening the state internally and externally.
“Civic Initiative for Action considers that the European Union holds the main responsibility for the dividing wall built in Mitrovica, therefore, they will organize today a symbolic action to request from the EU, as mediator of the negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia, to ruin the wall and expel from Kosovo Serbian state, which is ruining the republic from inside,” informed a press release issued by this Initiative.
Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), said today that the wall in northern Mitrovica derives from the agreement signed between Kosovo and Serbia on April 2011. He said that discussions in Brussels caused not only the wall but many other problems. “Not only the wall, but everything that derived, including the association, derive from the April agreement.” Limaj said.
