Drecun: Self-determination demonstrates extremism (RTK2)

President of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, says that statement of Vice President of Self-Determination movement, Visar Imeri, that Serbia needs to change approach towards Kosovo, is demonstrating policy of extremism. “They are actually the ones who do not contribute to the process of normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and not Serbian officials,” said Drecun.

Kosovo should not remain hostage to dialogue (Koha Ditore)

Augustin Palokaj writes today that it is almost certain that the new EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, will insist on continuation of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and implementation of all agreements reached in the course of it. In fact, adds Palokaj, normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is also the condition the two countries have to meet in order to get closer to EU membership. This is particularly the case for Serbia which has already opened membership negotiations.

Vetevendosje to lead with the dialogue (gazetaexpress)

The agreement signed between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), with Vetevendosje Movement, foresees that the dialogue will be led by Albin Kurti’s party.

The point five of the Agreement stresses that the dialogue is a responsibility of the Government led by Ramush Haradinaj, however the process of the dialogue will be led by Vetevendosje.

Mustafa: Prime minister to lead the dialogue (Kosovapress)

Leader of Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa said that the agreement between LDK, AAK, NISMA and Vetevendosje confirms commitment and responsibility of all parties to the dialogue process. “The dialogue will be led by the prime minister of the country, respectively the dialogue will be on the basis of reciprocity. Members of the coalition will have specific responsibilities in the dialogue but no one should imply the dialogue will be led on political party basis.

Belgrade-Pristina discussions resume in Brussels (Tanjug)

BRUSSELS - Discussions on the normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina ties - which ended on Thursday with the initialling of plans to build improved integrated crossings at the administrative line with Kosovo - resumed in Brussels early Friday under the auspices of the European Union.

As opposed to Thursday, when the two delegations were in direct discussions in the European External Action Service building in Brussels, Friday's discussions are being held in bilateral format, which means that the teams will hold separate meetings with European Commission (EC) experts.

"Agreements with Priština are not interstate" (RTS,Blic,Politika,B92)

BELGRADE -- The government's office for media relations has announced that Serbia would not sign any interstate agreement with Priština.

Director of the office Milivoje Mihajlović said that "only agreements that will make life easier for citizens in Kosovo and Metohija will be initialed."

"Serbia will sign agreements on energy, telecommunications, everything that will make life easier for citizens in Kosovo. No interstate agreement will be signed, that is spin meant to raise the rating of Hashim Thaci," said Mihajlović.

Djuric in Brussels on Chapter 35 (Blic)

Informal consultations concerning Chapter 35 will be held in Brussels on Sept. 5 between the Belgrade delegation, which will be headed by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric, and representatives of the European Commission's external relations office.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija told Beta that, after the fulfilment of obligations assumed in the fields of telecommunications and energy and in the creation of the draft statute of the Community of Serbian Municipalities, the picture regarding the report on Chapter 35 will be clearer.
