"Reconciliation stalled, ethnic divisions grow in region" (B92, Tanjug)

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks says that the reconciliation process in the Western Balkans has stalled.

In his latest Human Rights Comment, Muiznieks also noted that ethnic divisions and polarization have been growing in the region.

"These relate in particular to denial of genocide, glorification of war criminals and attempts to rehabilitate persons involved in crimes committed during the 1990s’ wars," the CoE cited him on its website, adding:

The Serbian Foreign Ministry (MFA) said on Tuesday it remained committed to overcoming disagreements and enhancing bilateral relations with Ukraine.

Spanish Ambassador to Serbia, Miguel Fuertes Suarez, on the occasion of the Day of the Kingdom of Spain marked yesterday, said that Spain goes through “complex moments” but is certain that Spain would overcome them with the support of friends, in particular Serbia, Tanjug news agency reported.

The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to Serbia due to support provided to Spain, Serbian media reported, adding that Serbian PM Brnabic, ministers, ambassadors and other dignitaries attended the reception.

"Huge pressure over Russian Center, we hope to solve issue" (Tanjug, B92)

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic says the status of the Russian Humanitarian Center in Nis has not yet been "solved" because "huge pressures are being exerted," Serbian media reported.

According to him, more reasons are that the issue has been politicized, and, "we do not want it to become a subject of political disputes."

Speaking during a break in the Belgrade Security Forum on Thursday, Dacic "stressed that this should be resolved in line with the Vienna Convention."

"I hope this will happen quickly," Dacic said.

Interpol has accepted the application of the Palestinian authorities to join the international police organization.

This happened despite Israel's fierce opposition, AFP reported on Wednesday.

Solomon Islands also joined the organization, Interpol - that now has 192 members - announced on Twitter, Tanjug is reporting.

Vucic goes to NYC, to address UN General Assembly (B92, Tanjug)

Aleksandar Vucic is traveling to New York on Monday, where he will stay until September 23.

The Serbian president will have a series of meetings, and participate in the UN General Assembly.

According to Tanjug, Vucic will attend the Sustainable Development Summit of the World Economic Forum and is also expects to meet with Philipp Rosler, a member of the organization's Executive Board.
