Regional police directorate Mitrovica North announced increased security measures before, during and after the football match of the Serbia’s Cup between Trepča from North Mitrovica and Vojvodina from Novi Sad which will take place today in Zvečan/Zveçan.

Regional Kosovo police commander for northern Kosovo Željko Bojić said that incidents are not expected, however police will be vigilant, whereas a rapid response unit will be on standby.

An international prosecutor from the Mitrovica Basic prosecution, assisted by EULEX Police, executed an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol for Radomir Kasalovic in the north of Kosovo. The operation was carried out as part of investigations into a number of cases that include murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and obstruction of justice. The murder charges are related to the death of the Kosovo Police officer, Enver Zymberi, in July of 2011 and attack on the KP convoy in which the victim was travelling.

Former Head of Coordination Centre for Kosovo, Nebojsa Covic and his associate Anđelka Radenković are suspects for the embezzlement of more than ten million euro.

The investigation included a total of six persons. Beside Covic and Radenković, in the investigation are included former head of Kosovska-Mitrovica District, Dragan Kalaba, and two company directors who were contractors of controversial contract, Idriz Šijak and Bojan Radovanovic. The sixth suspect is not available to the prosecution.

Regional Head of Operations of the Kosovo Police Zeljko Bojic said that the police arrested in Lesak one person suspected of murder and attempted murder of another person.

Bojic told Tanjug that the suspect was arrested shortly after 23 pm on Saturday night and the police arrested five persons as part of this operation.

The suspect was arrested in a village Socanica in the north.

Minister for Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin has confirmed that he met with former Mayor of Zubin Potok, Slavisa Ristic, who is charged with the murder of Kosovo policeman.

Vulin, commenting Ristic’s statements that they’ve met and that Vulin told him not to go to Kosovo for some time, confirmed that he had friendly meeting with Ristic where he said to him that he believes that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

The fifth session of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija Assembly was held in northern Mitrovica, with the only item on the agenda – the current political and security situation in the north.

MP Marko Jaksic said at the meeting that they are the only legitimate representatives of the Serbian people in Kosovo. He criticized the official Belgrade because it forced Kosovo Serbs to participate in elections organized by Pristina authorities.

The Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric will pay a visit today to a cooperative ‘Zubin Potok’ in Zubin Potok, reads the statement from the Office.

Djuric will meet the leadership of the cooperative and discuss further assistance to cooperative in order to enhance its so far successful operation in a difficult economic conditions and surrounding.  The cooperative ‘Zubin Potok’ has been operating without interruption from the time when it was established – before the WWII.

Kosovo Police arrested one person of Albanian ethnicity on suspicion of participating in the planning of an assassination against Goran Rakic, Mayor of North Mitrovica. EULEX learned about this first, and forwarded the information to Kosovo Police.

Bishop of Raska and Prizren Diocese, Teodosije, has expressed deep concern regarding the EULEX arrest warrants issued for current and former mayors of Zubin Potok, Stevan Vulović and Slaviša Ristic.
