Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric will attend tomorrow, on Christmas Eve, the evening worship in the church of Saint Demetrius in Mitrovica that will serve the Bishop of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija Theodosius.
It is planned that Djuric on Thursday attends Christmas liturgy in Visoki Decani.
The chairperson of the Mitrovica North assembly Ksenija Božović yesterday assessed, at the regular session of that body, that functioning of the municipal assembly was satisfactory considering problems it was faced with.
Former Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs' (MUP) employees in Kosovo, who are requesting solution to their employment and legal status in line with the Serbian Constitution and laws and who are not satisfied with the dynamic of the address of their demands, have announced launching of protests and hunger strike today in Mitrovica North in front of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija. Representative of the employees Rajko Sekularac said to Kontakt Plus Radio that protest will last until all requests are fulfilled.
Students office in Mitrovica North yesterday launched an action on social networks dubbed “Je suis Goraždevac” (I am Goraždevac) , in connection with the latest incidents in that Serbian village.
The Mayor of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakic, condemned the shooting in Goraždevac in early Monday hours and assessed that those behind the incident want ethnically clean Kosovo. Desecrating monuments, destructing property and jeopardizing lives of Serbs in Goraždevac is the red alarm that shows in what circumstances Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija live, Rakic stated.
A Kosovo Albanian was wounded and eight cars were damaged in an explosion that took place in north Kosovska Mitrovica on Sunday. The incident happened around 13:00 CET, Kosovo police regional chief of operations Zeljko Bojic told Tanjug, and added that explosive device used was most probably a hand grenade.
Graffiti ISIS were inscribed on the houses of Serbs in ethnically mixed neighborhood in northern Mitrovica, confirmed Kosovo police.
The paper reports that at least until spring next year there will be no return of Albanians in northern Mitrovica, although many of them have expressed willingness to return to their properties. Adriana Hodzic, head of the Administrative Office in northern Kosovo, said that there is no progress in this direction. According to her, the process of reconstruction of the Albaninans’ houses will not start before spring next year.
One hundred and fifty former members of the Serbian MUP (Ministry of Internal Affairs) in Kosovo who want solution to their judicial working status in accordance to the Serbian laws, protested today in front of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo in Mitrovica North. Their basic request is to reach a decision based on Serbia’s Constitution and Laws for pensioning the MUP members in Kosovo, and return to their duties for those who refuse early retirement. They threatened Serbia’s state leaders with a hunger strike if their demands are not fulfilled.
The Mayor of Mitrovica North Goran Rakić said to Tanjug that it would be good if Kosovo minister for dialogue Edita Tahiru would be engaged in settling this issue instead of hindering the process of delineation with her statements.
