Kosovo Serbs still waiting for a better life (RTS)

A year has passed since the local elections in Kosovo; the authorities in municipalities with Serbian majority are not satisfied with the treatment of central Kosovo institutions. The government in Pristina reduces the budget from year to year, so often beside salaries for employees there is no funding for the development of Serbian communities. During the last census in Kosovo, Serbs have been partially registered.

Djuric: Cooperation with Serbs the way forward for settling problems (RTS)

The Director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric voiced expectation that representatives of political parties of Kosovo Albanians will provide support and protection to Serbs in Metohija. He announced construction of the new school in Klina/Klinë Municipality.

During his visit to a returnee village Vidanje in Klina/Klinë municipality Djuric said that Kosovo Serbs live in a very difficult conditions.

The bad situation in the Serbian municipalities in Kosovo (RTS)

President of the Municipality Partes / Pasjan, near Gnjilane, Dragan Nikolic pointed out that the situation in the Serbian municipalities is extremely bad, even one year after the local elections. "The major problem is the budget. Partes/Pasjane municipality is the municipality with one hundred per cent of Serbian population and we received lower budget because we have not participated in the census," said Nikolic. He says that the budget was reduced 50 per cent for operational costs.

Ivanovic victim of the "rule of law" in Kosovo (RTS)

“One part of the Brussels agreement envisages that, in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo, Serbs must be employed in Courts and Prosecutors’ Offices in proportion with the ethnic composition of the population. That part of the agreement must be implemented as soon as possible,” said Marko Djuric, Director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija. Djuric said that international justice cannot replace domestic judicial system in Kosovo and Metohija.

Starcevic: Kosovo without a UN seat (RTS)

Former ambassador and representative of Serbia in the United Nations, Fedor Starcevic, doesn’t expect Kosovo to get a UN seat, even if Serbia would be forced to state that it has no objections for Kosovo becoming a UN member. “I don’t expect Kosovo to get a UN chair, even if Serbia would be forced to state that it has no objections for Kosovo becoming a UN member, hence I hope that it won’t happen.

New incident in Klina (RTS)

Hose of Vlada Radosavljevic in Klina/Klinë downtown was stoned last night, carried RTS. Entrance door and a window were broken last night on the house of Radosavljevic in the incident, which was reported to Kosovo police. This is the fourth incident in a row in Klina/Klinë and Istok/Istog municipalities in the last four days, where two houses were also set on fire in returnees’ villages Drsnik and Ljug. Police did not manage to apprehend any person responsible for those incidents.

KiM Committee meeting on security in province on Oct. 27 (Tanjug)

BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament’s Committee on Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) will hold a meeting on the security situation in the southern Serbian province on Monday, October 27, Milovan Drecun, chairman of the body, said Tuesday. "The meeting will discuss the current security situation in Kosovo-Metohija, with special emphasis on the security of the Serbian population,” Drecun told Tanjug. Drecun said that he would invite the following officials to the meeting: Director of the Serbian government’s Office for KiM Marko Djuric, Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic,

Rakic: Albanians provoking clashes (RTS)

Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakic stated that Albanians openly wish to provoke clashes with Serbs in that town. According to him intentions of Albanians from southern Mitrovica was to set on fire former premises of the municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica by throwing Molotov cocktails. “That is equal to an attempted murder of people who were in the building. Civil Protection staffers were in the building, it is about legal institution which assists citizens of North Mitrovica and entire northern Kosovo,” Rakic said.

New attacks on bakeries owned by Albanians (RTS)

Two bakeries owned by Albanians were demaged last night in Novi Sad, whereas a kebab shop was stoned. Three bakeries owned by Albanians were damaged in Vrsac as well. One person is detained in relation with the attacks, carried Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia. State Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia Aleksandar Nikolic said that Serbia won’t tolerate inciting of religious and national hatred and that all who damage property belonging to Albanians will be punished.

Serbs write Statute, Pristina waiting the government (RTS)

While Pristina awaits the government, the Serbian side writes Statute of the Community of Serbian municipalities and is close to the draft, which should be presented to Brussels. To continue political dialogue, however, the other side is needed. Serbia's progress on its European path is largely determined by the progress of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. That the opening of chapters depends on implementation of the Brussels agreement, confirms and the Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
