European Parliament vice president and rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek, told Radio Free Europe that Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo can best be protected if Kosovo becomes part of UNESCO. According to her, if Kosovo join this organization, UNESCO would supervise Kosovo in fulfilling the promises of preserving cultural heritage. Speaking about the recent political developments in Kosovo, she said that such actions in the Assembly are unacceptable. According to her, dialogue is the only way.

European Parliament vice president and rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek, told RTV Dukagjini that the two agreements disputed by the opposition, that on the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities and border demarcation with Montenegro, should be put for ratification at the Assembly of Kosovo. She said opposition actions such as releasing teargas are unacceptable. “ Lunacek said she was surprised by the statement of Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa that the agreements would not be ratified by the Assembly only discussed.

The Vice President of the European Parliament and Rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek, today called on the ruling-coalition parties in Kosovo to resubmit to the Assembly the constitutional amendments that enable the establishment of the special court. Lunacek said that the government of Kosovo must try the second chance to pass these constitutional amendments. According to her, the establishment of the special court would allow Kosovo to continue its European path, proving a clean past.

Members of the European Parliament on Wednesday urged international investigation into the armed incident that happened in Kumanovo, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) two weeks ago. During the yesterday’s plenary session, MEPs called on the European Parliament to support FYROM on its road towards the EU, but urged respect for the rights of all its citizens. Austrian MEP Ulrike Lunacek said that she was shocked by the incident in Kumanovo."There should be an independent investigation on what happened there.

The Board of Women Caucus hosted a meeting  with Ulrike Lunacek, Member of the European Parliament and Rapporteur for Kosovo. At this meeting it was discussed extensively on the activities of Women Caucus of the Kosovo Assembly, and the challenges faced by women in the protection of their rights wherever they work and operate. Ms Lunacek, in her speech, said that  she appreciates the contribution of women MPs in Kosovo. “Kosovo has good laws, but the question is how to apply them,” Lunacek said.

EP Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek has said that a report that found no evidence of corruption in EU's mission in Kosovo, EULEX, "is only the first step."

The Austrian MEP called for "a full investigation into the work of the EU rule of law mission."

"The report is an important first step, but some questions remain unanswered," Lunacek said on her website.

In an interview for ABC News, Ulrike Lunacek, the European Parliament’s Rapporteur on Kosovo, said she was very pleased to hear Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Avramopoulos, say that Kosovo is making the final steps toward visa liberalization. “This is the first time that I am hearing something like this from the Commission. Kosovo authorities need to adopt another four laws. I will not give any dates, but if Kosovo adopts the laws and the Commission continues its work, then the member states will have to say yes.

European Parliament (EP) has approved on Wednesday a resolution on the progress of Kosovo proposed by MEP Ulrike Lunacek.

For the sixth time in a row, the European Parliament called on the European Union to exert its influence upon the five member countries which have not yet recognized the independence of Kosovo.

The resolution states that the recognition of Kosovo would further normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia and it would bring Kosovo further to the EU.

BELGRADE - Serbia will not recognize the independence of Kosovo that was unilaterally proclaimed by ethnic Albanians, Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Aleksandar Vulin said Monday.

“Recognition (independence) of Kosovo is not an option,” Vulin told reporters in his comment on a statement made by Vice-President and Special Rapporteur of the European Parliament on Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek, in which she said that normalization of relations and recognition of Kosovo would be a condition for Serbia’s accession to the European Union (EU).

European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee passed today a draft resolution calling on five EU countries that have not recognised independence of Kosovo to do so. The draft resolution, prepared by EP Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek, received 35 votes in favour from the members of the committee and 7 against. Lunacek said she hoped that the draft would also receive the support of the European Parliament members during a plenary session that will take place in March.
