Jahjaga ready for a meeting with Nikolic (Danas)
Pristina, Belgrade - Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga is open for a new meeting with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, whenever needed, whether on a regional or international level, the cabinet of the President of Kosovo said to Danas, answering the question of whether a meeting is planned and when of the highest representatives of Belgrade and Pristina.
On the other hand, in the cabinet of President Nikolic, after several attempts, we were unable to get any comment on the date of the next meeting of two presidents.
Nikolic and Jahjaga met directly last time in Brussels in February last year, with the mediation of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, and then it continued through forums and summits, regional and international. The agenda of the President, obviously, still has no date for the next meeting, instead of a concrete answer on this subject Jahjaga’s advisor Arber Vllahiju said to Danas that the meeting between the presidents of the two countries they see as "a common and normal process within the normalization and development of good neighbourly relations." "Meeting of the President of Kosovo and Serbia have so far been held within summits, forums, or other opportunities in the regional and international context," says Vllahiju.
The presidents of Serbia and Kosovo have not meet lately either at regional summits, and when they were at the meetings in Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia last year it was mainly by the "Gymnich formula". This format, recall, implies that the participants of a set are represented without state symbols and other marks. Last year Arber Vllahiju told Danas that Jahjaga called Nikolic to the Summit of presidents of the region in Pristina, but the office of Serbian President then stated that he was not invited to participate in this event. "Even if the call from Jahjaga has arrived, still it is not the time for such a meeting in Kosovo," said last year Nikolic's Department for Media Relations.
