"Albanians deserve better than circus politics" (B92)

Marko Djuric has commented on announcements of "national unification of Albanians" to say that they "deserve more responsible politics."

The head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija spoke a day after Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the signing of several agreements between the governments in Pristina and Tirana meant that "national unification of Albanians" had taken place.

It is illusory to believe that Serbia will recognize independence of Kosovo (IRS, Tanjug)

Marko Djuric, head of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, stated on Monday that people in Kosovo should not be misguided that Serbia will recognize the independence of its southern province.

“The process of normalization (of relations) is irreversible, and constant delusion about Serbia's recognition of the independence of KiM is a reflection of political immaturity and a worrying lack of focus on real problems in KiM - unemployment, corruption and bad international relations,” Djuric told Tanjug.

Ethnic cleansing behind communal problems (RTS)

Municipal authorities in Vushtrri/Vucitrn recently demolished two houses owned by Serbs and have damaged one. Homeowners say that they have not been previously informed, that they did not give consent, and that it is a systematic persecution of Serbs from the city, not the communal problems.

Kosovo Serb Leaders Unite to Issue Common Demands (BIRN)

Kosovo Serb leaders - currently boycotting the government - gathered on Wednesday in Gracanica to form a joint political umbrella, and produce a list of joint demands.

Kosovo Serb mayors and municipal assembly members from the country's Serb-majority municipalities filled the house of culture in the central town of Gracanica on Wednesday on a mission to coordinate future steps.

Djuric: Serbs in KiM still not free (Tanjug)

BELGRADE - Marko Djuric, director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), stated that 11 years after the March pogrom, Serbs in KiM are still not free, and expressed expectation that the ones responsible for the Golgotha of Serbs will finally be punished.

In the pogrom, which lasted from March 17 to 19, 2004, a total of 4,000 Serbs were expelled, ethnic cleansing was carried out in six towns and 10 villages, and many churches and monasteries were burnt down.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Serbian people, Djuric thanked Handke for "unfailing love, support and help which he unobtrusively offers to Serbia and especially to Kosovo and Metohija".
