Serbian List has acted as an independent political entity in deciding to cooperate only with non-Albanian parties and wants to establish a coalition bloc with them, said head of the List, Aleksandar Jablanovic. "This bloc will consist of twenty MPs that will make an important political force and will represent interests of minorities which are, in some areas, different to those of the majority Albanian population", Jablanovic was quoted by Serbian news agency Beta.

President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga has alarmed through her spokesperson, Arber Vllahiu about the current political situation in Kosovo.

Vllahiu said for Gazeta Blic that Kosovo does not have any more time to waste. He said that a solution should be found as soon as possible.

Leader of Alliance for Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said after a meeting of the post-election bloc that “there is no power in the world to force us to make a coalition with PDK”. He said they are not refusing meeting the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hashim Thaci, but that they simply don’t want him as a coalition partner.

Coalition between Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) and Vetevendosje are waiting for President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, to once again approach the Constitutional Court asking for further clarifications regarding election of Assembly speaker. If she, however, fails to undertake this step, the Bloc will soon gather necessary signatures and address the Court on its own, a senior official from the Bloc said.

According to Burim Etemaj, personal grudges of the political leaders and their greed for power has put Kosovo in a political and institutional stalemate. “Each block blames the other for the created situation. The Democratic Party of Kosovo claims to have the votes of the sovereign and the decision of the Constitutional Court to establish the institutions, but the truth that this party does not have the required numbers at the Assembly is already known by everyone.

Some international officials in Kosovo are categorically against early elections. International sources told Gazeta Blic that there are two reasons why they think new elections are not necessary. “We could face the same situation again; the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and other parties of the bloc might not reach a pre-election agreement and the PDK would be the winning party again. This is why new elections might not be productive,” the source said.

Coalition between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) and Vetevendosje – LVAN - are ready to give up the post of Assembly speaker to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) but they fear that once the PDK takes it, it will not allow President Atifete Jahjaga to nominate the Bloc’s candidate for prime minister, an unnamed official from the Bloc said.

A source close with Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga told the news agency that representatives of the coalition bloc asked Jahjaga to seek additional explanations from the Constitutional Court on how to break the political deadlock. “Jahjaga, however, does not plan to address the Court again. She is confident that the solution lies in the latest decision of the Court,” the source said.

Following speeches from Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Vetevendosje, Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) MPs, Vjosa Osmani from LDK read out the bloc’s joint statement asking Flora Brovina to as soon as possible call a session so that the political stalemate is resolved and new institutions are formed. In the statement, the bloc’s MPs expressed their concern with the current political situation which, according to them, is created by the parliamentary minority led by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
