President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic had a meeting with the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament, David McAllister, Tanjug news agency reports. This is the first McAllister’s visit to Belgrade after taking up a new duty.
On his Instagram account, the President posted that Serbia agrees with the EU member states’ agreement on the holders of the most important functions.

The European Parliament (EP) delegation headed by David McAllister, the Rapporteur for Serbia, will spend four days in Belgrade and Pristina to assess the political situation and the European Union relations with Kosovo and Serbia, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.
The Rapporteur for Kosovo, Slovenian MEP Igor Soltes, will also be in the EP delegation during its visit from Wednesday to March 2.
European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, David McAllister urged Pristina authorities to revoke the decision on tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tanjug news agency reported.
He noted it is not easy, however Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci have raised the dialogue to the new level. He called on the both sides to continue dialogue in order to advance on their respective paths to the EU.

Belgrade-based daily Blic writes today, in an article ''EU asks Merkel to accept a deal between Belgrade and Pristina'', that European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister has asked the German chancellor to accept a solution to the Kosovo problem that Serbia proposes.
The daily Blic is citing a source from diplomatic circles in Berlin. According to the daily, McAllister, recently met with Angela Merkel and expressed his views on this sensitive issue.
At the moment, it is impossible to predict content and date of reaching possible agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, Chairperson of the European Parliament Committee for Foreign Affairs and Rapporteur for Serbia, David McAllister said, adding that Vucic and Thaci are committed to take the normalization of relations “to the next level”.
He also underlined there are challenges along the way, however, there are positive signs to build mutual trust, and it would be good if the dialogue continues with the next round in Brussels, before the end of the month.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and European Parliament Rapporteur, David McAllister assessed last night Serbia is progressing on its path towards the EU, however, rule of law reforms and Kosovo remain the major challenges, BETA news agency reported.
At a joint press conference, McAllister said that 2018 is a crucial year for the Western Balkans, as it is in the focus of EU again, and has an opportunity to realize its European perspective.
