Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Milorad Dodik said today’s operation of the Kosovo police special units in the north is a serious blow to the fragile peace in Kosovo and Metohija and an attempt to provoke a new exodus of the Serbs, Danas daily reports. KFOR has confirmed there is a Kosovo police operation ongoing, in line with the Pristina’s prosecution request and it takes place in an entire Kosovo, claiming same as the Kosovo government, that the action in the north of Kosovo is a fight against the crime, RTS reported. KFOR Spokesperson Grasso said the action is not directed against the Serbs, but against the people suspected of taking part in corruption and criminal activities. He added KFOR monitors the situation. Serbian Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Chairperson Milovan Drecun termed this statement “as cynical”.

Serbian public broadcaster RTS reports that the National Security Council is currently having a session on the situation in the northern Kosovo, following Kosovo police ROSU units intrusion. RTS added President Aleksandar Vucic warned the EU, Serbia shall react if ROSU does not withdraw from the north of Kosovo and Metohija. Movements of Serbian Army and police in direction of Kosovo are also noticed. President Vucic would address Serbian Assembly MPs and Serbian citizens about the latest events at 10.30, RTS reported.

Srpska Lista officials and representatives who were in Belgrade yesterday to attend the Serbian Assembly session on Kosovo and Metohija have left Belgrade and head back to Mitrovica North, Tanjug news agency reported. Meanwhile, RTS said citizens of Mitrovica North started to gather at city centre over intrusion of ROSU unites While TV Prva and Tanjug said six persons are arrested, Belgrade-based Vecernje Novosti daily claims number of arrested persons is seven.

 

The international community must respect the electoral will of the Serbian people in Kosovo, Chairperson of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun said, TV Most reports.

Srpska Lista, whose candidates won mayoral elections in the four northern Kosovo municipalities was fined in total EUR 6000 for the three electoral posters, Tanjug news agency reported. Srpska Lisa was fined for breaching the rules in electoral campaign as it placed the posters and leaflets on the places not foreseen for that, including public roads, electric poles and lampposts, RTK 2 said.  

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he is surprised by the Quint statement following mayoral elections in the four northern Kosovo municipalities, Tanjug news agency reports today. He added the only conclusion from that statement would be that some were displeased the elections were completed in peace and order. “I want to congratulate them for their inventiveness.

Candidates for mayors from the Serbian List won on Sunday in early local elections all four municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija.

Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Assistant Director Petar Petkovic and Srpska Lista (SL) mayoral candidate in Mitrovica North Goran Rakic said yesterday the upcoming elections for mayors in four northern municipalities represent a referendum for the survival and remain of the Serb people in Kosovo, RTS reported. “This victory is needed to prove that the determination of the Serb people to defend their dignity is unbreakable (…),” Rakic told TV Most.
