Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, told the Kosovo Government today that he withdrew the bill for the ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro from the Assembly last week, “because circumstances were not right to move forward on the matter”. Mustafa said: “there was a lot of pressure and also individual threats against MPs. I was not talking about any specific political party when I mentioned conditions, but I did say that we would not accept any conditions.

The government of Kosovo decided during today’s meeting to extend the mandate of the current Police Director, Shpend Maxhuni.

Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni said that the proposal for such decision was made based on Maxhuni’s performance at work.

Political analyst, Shkelzen Maliqi, said in an interview for the paper that the Kosovo Government did not properly manage the issue of the border demarcation with Montenegro. Maliqi also said that contrary to claims made by opposition parties, the demarcation agreement is not dead. Maliqi further said that two sovereign countries can openly discuss the logical correction of the border. He denied that the opposition was a factor in the withdrawal of the demarcation bill from the Assembly last week.

Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration said that he expects Kosovo’s integration in the European Union this year, despite the challenges faced recently.

Çollaku made this statement during his first meeting with new head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova. He also stressed that the EU should continue with procedures on visa liberalisation make a positive decision on Kosovo.

Ratification of the agreement for demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro will not occur today at the Assembly of Kosovo. The government of Kosovo has decided to withdraw the point of ratification of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro from today’s agenda. According to the sources of Insajderi.com, the reason for withdrawal is that a matter of such importance cannot be ratified under current circumstances.

The Kosovo Government issued a press release today strongly condemning Sunday's attack with an explosive device on the house of the director of the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), Mentor Shala. “This criminal act is a direct attack on the freedom of the media in Kosovo. These are efforts to impede the freedom of speech, one of the most important values of Kosovar society. The Kosovo Government calls on the competent authorities to resolve this case and bring the perpetrators to justice in order to prevent such attacks from happening in the future.

The government of Kosovo through a press statement condemned the attack on the premises of the public broadcaster – the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) – on Monday evening. “The government of Kosovo believes that this is an attack against free speech and against all media in Kosovo. The government invites state authorities to shed light on this case and bring the perpetrators of this act to justice.

Unidentified persons threw stones at the Kosovo government building on Tuesday while the Committee on Foreign Affairs was reviewing the draft-law on the ratification of border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro, Zëri reports.  Several windows were broken while media report that no one was injured from the attack.

Kosovo government through a press release issued today strongly condemned Thursday night's attack on the premises of the Assembly. “This is a cowardly attack directed against all state institutions and Kosovo. Without wanting to prejudge whether it is in the line of violent acts announced, the government of Kosovo considers that such acts will not manage to stop the dedication and work of Kosovo institutions towards a better future,” notes the press release.

In the meeting of the Kosovo Assembly’s internal affairs and overseeing of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) commission, Vetëvendosje MP Rexhep Selimi accused the government for failing to submit two very important pieces of legislation: that on transformation of the KSF into armed force and the one on early retirement for the Kosovo Police officers.  “We are ready to do more if the government had been willing to process the laws,” said Selimi.
