Serb representatives in the Kosovo government have opposed the draft law on Trepča at a government session, stressing that it excludes the Serbian community from the decision-making about the future of the conglomerate, and that the whole process was politicized.

Minister for Administration and Local Self-Government Ljubomir Marić says that it is irregular to submit the draft law to the ministers immediately before the session of the Government.

Kosovo Government submits to Assembly draft law on Trepça mine (media)

The Government of Kosovo has submitted to the Assembly draft law on Treçpa mining complex. Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci, said the draft law is aimed at improving the legal infrastructure and enabling investment and revitalization of the Trepça mine. Serb ministers in the Kosovo government voted against the draft bill with the Deputy Prime Minister, Branimir Stojanović, calling it a result of a political process. Stojanović said the Serb representatives have not taken part in the drafting of the law and that he considers the issue was political and not economic.

Government of Kosovo insists it has no funds for KLA veterans (Klan Kosova)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said today that his government has no funds and no ways to pay for pensions of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans. He said that the government commission, which prepared the list of KLA members eligible for a pension, had assured him that there would be no more than 12,000 people on the list. “Now, there are almost 30,000. If we pay for those who do not deserve the public money, we slide into corrupt activity”, said Mustafa at the meeting of the government.

Hoxhaj: Thaçi’s arrest unacceptable, we will do the utmost (KalnKosova)

Enver Hoxhaj, Foreign Minister of Kosovo, spoke today at the meeting of the government of Kosovo about the arrest of the director of Mitrovica regional police, Nehat Thaçi.

He said that the Ministry is dealing with the case and that they are giving their maximum. He added that Thaçi’s arrest by Serbian authorities is unacceptable.

Government of Kosovo approves bill on religious freedoms (Telegrafi)

Government of Kosovo in its routine meeting today endorsed the draft law on religious freedoms in Kosovo paving way for the Assembly’s vote. Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuçi, said that draft law aims to recognise the legal status of religious communities. “Kosovo will respect religious communities by recognising their representatives but always by preserving secularism of the state”, he said.

Government determined not to delay re-proceeding of demarcation (Telegrafi))

Faton Abdullahu, spokesperson of the government of Kosovo, told Telegrafi that re-proceeding of the demarcation at the Assembly will not be delayed. “The Prime Minister Mustafa has just returned from New York, where he stayed for a week. He had many constructive and beneficial meetings including the one with President Obama. The priority of Prime Minister’s agenda is now demarcation and the positive thing is that there is an agreeable and coordinated will of the coalition parties not to prolong this draft-law unjustifiably.

Kosovo government insists offer to discuss demarcation is serious (RTK)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, is expected to step up his efforts to resolve the dispute among political parties on the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro as soon as he returns from his trip to the US. Mustafa’s advisor, Faton Abdullahu, said the offer to discuss border demarcation is serious and is aimed at enabling all sides to present their facts. “The invitation should not be viewed or analysed based on who will shift their position, who will return the issue back to the beginning or on other things of such nature. The main thing it to present facts”, said Abdullahu.

Poll finds Government the most corrupt institution in Kosovo (Koha)

In a recent poll carried out by the Kosovo-based research group, Riinvest, the government of Kosovo was identified as the most corrupt institution while the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) as the least corrupt.  According to the poll, around 48 percent of the citizens in Kosovo have been involved in corruption by bribing officials in exchange for public administration services. Riinvest’s Lumir Abdixhiku said Kosovo authorities are responsible for the high level of corruption which, he warned, is posing a threat to the Kosovo society, development and integration process.
