Jahjaga and Mogherini discuss steps forward in EU-Kosovo relations (Koha)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga met today with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, to discuss the progress in EU-Kosovo relations during Jahjaga’s 5-year mandate which ends later this week. “Excellent cooperation with the President contributed to a number of positive steps forward in the EU-Kosovo relations, including the entry into force of the first contractual framework for bilateral relations, the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, on 1 April.

Kosovo does not remove reciprocity measure against Serbia (Koha)

Kosovo’s Ministry of Trade and Industry through a press release today announced that the decision of the government for reciprocal measure on recognition of the ADR certificates will remain in force until reaching of an agreement on mutual recognition of such certificates. The statement notes that the government is willing to resolve bilateral problems through dialogue.

Konjufca: The international commission for demarcation, the same as Kosovo’s state commission (Koha)

Head of the Vetevendosje parliamentary group, Glauk Konjuvca, held today a press conference regarding the findings of the international commission for demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro. He said that the commission used Murat Meha’s material, and added that the findings are the same as those of the Kosovo state Commission. “We have announced on 15 March that if this commission uses Murat Meha’s material, of course the results would be the same.

FOL: Government has failed to meet 65% of its objectives (Koha)

The Government of Kosovo has failed to meet 65 percent of objectives it had set for 2015, said representatives of the Kosovo-based Fol think tank today. Fol expressed concern over the, as it said, poor performance of the government in 2015, particularly as the actions planned for 2015 will have to be transferred to 2016 which will make their implementation even more difficult. In numbers, the government has managed to fulfill 57 out of a total of 160 actions set out in the action plan for 2015.

Blerim Dina elected chairman of the board of PRB (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly with 64 votes in favor, 10 abstentions and one vote against, today elected Besim Dina as chairman of the board of the Procurement Review Body (PRB). As members of the board were elected: Nuhi Paqarizi and Goran Milenkovic. Their mandate will last five years. The Assembly also elected Besnik Osmani as General Auditor. European Integration Minister Bekim Collaku said this is good news for the functioning of the institutions and it is also important for visa liberalization process.

Jahjaga: War has not yet ended for raped women in Kosovo (Koha)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga today addressed the “Sexual Violence in Conflict and beyond” Forum, organised by the Foundation for the Wellbeing of the Society of the President of Malta, Ms. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca. This Forum was organised on the occasion of President Jahjaga’s state visit to the Republic of Malta. During her remarks, Jahjaga said sexual violence was used as a tool of war in Kosovo against thousands of women and men with the purpose to incite fear and oppression upon innocent citizens.

Assembly thanks NATO for air raids in Kosovo’s defense (Koha)

The news site reports that the Kosovo Assembly began its session today by marking the 17th anniversary of the NATO air raids against Serbian targets and in defense of Kosovo Albanians in 1999. Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli and Isa Mustafa delivered speeches commemorating the NATO raids and highlighted their importance for the liberation of Kosovo. Veseli and Mustafa also talked about the global war against terror and Kosovo’s commitment to this front. The MPs observed a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the recent terror attacks in Brussels.

Kosovo authorities send back Serbian trucks (Koha)

Kosovo’s customs authorities told Radio Free Europe that they have sent back a truck traveling  from Serbia to Kosovo. Adriatik Stavileci, spokesman for the Kosovo Customs, said this comes as a result of a decision made by Kosovo authorities to introduce reciprocity measures against Serbia on oil and gas transport. “Yesterday at the border crossing point in Merdare we have sent back the first truck that was traveling from Serbia to Kosovo,” Stavileci said.
