Several imams under investigation over ISIS activities (Koha)

The office of the State Chief Prosecutor together with Kosovo Police gave a press conference today about the arrest of 40 persons suspected of participating in fighting in Syria and Iraq alongside terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Nusra.

Prosecution and police representatives said the arrests were made after a two-year investigation. The police operation was carried out without any incident, except in two cases where family members of the suspects tried to prevent police from making the arrests. Most families however welcomed the police operation.

Rogova, part of the UN expert advisory group (Koha)

Igballe Rogova, executive director of the Kosova Women’s Network (KWN), has been invited to become a member of the High Level Expert Advisory Group for the Global Study on the 15-year implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325.

The news was announced in a press release issued by KWN which says that the study is in line with Security Council Resolution 2122 which calls for the UN Secretary-General to undertake a high-level review of women, peace and security to be conducted in October 2015.

Excavations in Rudnica recommence (Koha)

Excavations in search of mortal remains have recommenced at the mass grave in Rudnica, Serbia.

Head of the Kosovo Government’s Commission for Missing Persons, Prenk Gjetaj, confirmed the news to KTV. According to Gjetaj, the Kosovo side is prepared and ready to work on determining the fate of the missing persons.

The decision to resume excavations at the site came after an agreement was reached last week between the Pristina and Belgrade teams.

Selimi: End of war crimes investigations will improve Kosovo image (Koha)

Deputy Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi, considers that the end of war crimes investigations in Kosovo will help in improving Kosovo’s international image. Speaking about Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) report, Selimi said that any report that mentions war crimes makes Kosovo return to the war period in the eyes of the world. He said by demonstrating seriousness as a country towards this report and the trials that will follow, Kosovo will be able to strengthen its image in the world.

Shterpce/Strpce will not assist those who sold property in Kosovo and bought in Serbia (Koha)

Municipality of Shterpce/Strpce will not provide assistance to Serb displaced persons who came from other communities after the conflict and who have sold their property, said Mayor Bratislav Nikolic who added that he categorically opposes giving assistance to those who bought property in Serbia.

Williamson: If there were a special court, I’d file indictments today (Koha)

A day after the publication of the main findings from the three-year investigation, EU Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) lead prosecutor Clint Williamson said that if the special court were in place, he would be ready to immediately file indictments against the most senior figures of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

Even though he hesitates to mention the names of those that are expected to be indicted, he says that the Special Task Force has the names.
