Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani asked during today’s session of the Kosovo Assembly why UNMIK is issuing international arrest warrants on Kosovo’s behalf given that EULEX operates in Kosovo. “Yesterday we saw media reports that UNMIK has issued 36 international arrest warrants on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo. The spokesman of this mission [UNMIK] confirmed this saying that the arrest warrants are valid and that they were issued by the INTERPOL liaison office within UNMIK.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Vjosa Osmani, during the meeting of the government commission on European integration today called for an Assembly session where experts would be invited to discuss the border-demarcation issue with Montenegro. Osmani said this was not the first time that the border-demarcation committee members are being invited to discuss the border-demarcation issue, but they did not respond to the invitation.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani said that creation of Kosovo Armed Forces does not depend on the Serbian List MPs. “If we want an army, we can do this in a day. A name does not make an army but the weaponry, number, function, and competencies”, she said.

Kosovo Assembly MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Vjosa Osmani, known as one of the criticizing voices against the PDK-LDK coalition, confirmed once again that she will object Hashim Thaqi’s candidacy for the President of Kosovo. “I am not aware of how the other deputies will act, but it is important for each of us to act according to our convictions and conscience, and in line with the will of the electorate,” Osmani said.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani called on her party colleagues to prevent the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci from becoming the new Kosovo president. She said the only way to achieve this is by the LDK MPs not participating in the Assembly session when Thaci is expected to be voted for president. She explained that it is required for at least ten LDK MPs, plus the opposition ones, to boycott the session leaving it without a quorum and unable to vote on the motion.

The European Parliament Vice President and Rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek, told the news site the opposition’s violent acts hinder the political dialogue between the opposition and the government. However, she said a solution can be found without outside interference. Lunacek also said in addition to opposition’s act, also the government is not much interested to calm the situation.

Vetevendojse Movement MP Ilir Deda and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani, told KTV that by the end of this week they will conclude discussions with all political leaders and if necessary, they will make amendments to their original plan for overcoming the current political crisis. According to Deda, the main purpose of their plan is to bring the political leaders together and discuss the possible solutions. Deda and Osmani will also meet President Atifete Jahjaga by the end of week to discuss their plan.

Naser Osmani, head of the Kosovo Assembly's committee on budget and finances, during a meeting held today on the law for public procurement, claimed that Samuel Zbogar, head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, was violating the Constitution of Kosovo. According to Osmani, Zbogar is discriminating local companies by favoring foreign companies, “because it is the sixth time that Zbogar’s office has sent back the law claiming that it does not comply with the requirements of the European Union”.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Vjosa Osmani, said today that the government of Kosovo is being late on re-submitting to the Assembly the constitutional amendments that enable establishment of the special court. "I'm not sure if the PDK is making serious efforts to convince MPs to vote in favor of special court, however, it remains to be seen whether we will have any success in achieving the necessary votes. This must be a result of the MPs’ free will and not the result of any pressure or threat,” Osmani said.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani said today that Kosovo’s authorities must establish the special court otherwise it will be done by the United Nations Security Council. Osmani argues that if the UN establishes the court this would send Kosovo back to the pre-independence period. She also called on the MPs to vote in favor of the court in order to prevent a worst-case scenario. “The United Nations have already established special courts, in the cases of Rwanda and Sierra Leone,” she said.
