Crisis Headquarters in northern Kosovo: Serbs to hold peaceful protest tomorrow (RTS, Tanjug)

Crisis Headquarters of the four northern municipalities decided today to organize a peaceful protest tomorrow in Mitrovica North, starting at 12.00, because of the taxes that Pristina authorities imposed on the goods from central Serbia, RTS reports.

Srpska Lista Deputy Chair, Igor Simic told RTS, that extraordinary sessions would be also held in Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Mitrovica North municipalities, to discuss current political and security situation in the north.

In several Serb communities in Kosovo, one-hour protests against "police and political terror in Pristina" were held. Serbian List Vice President Igor Simic said that the Serbs sent a message that they wanted to live peacefully and dignifiedly.

Protests were held in Rudare, at the cross in the municipality of Zvecan, at the Jarinje crossing in the municipality of Leposavic, at the Brnjak crossing and in the place Zupce in the municipality of Zubin Potok.

In a live broadcast, Radio Television Serbia reports on the announcements of blockades in the town of Rudare in the municipality of Zvecan, closure of the administrative crossing of Jarinje in the municipality of Leposavic, and that the leadership of the municipality of Zubin Potok made a decision on closing all shops from 12 to 13 hours, and to block the Brnjak crossing, as well as the main road in the village of Zupce.

No newspapers from central Serbia in north, milk from reserves (KoSSev, TV N1)

Decision of Pristina authorities to increase taxes by 100 percent for the goods from central Serbia started to affect local Serbs’ shops in Mitrovica North, since milk and daily newspapers haven’t reached them today, KoSSev portal reports.

Some newsstands still carry weekly and monthly editions of newspapers from Belgrade, while in some stores milk from reserve could be bought at the old price.

At the same time, the trade inspectors have been removing all the products in the south of Kosovo labelled either “Kosovo and Metohija” or “Kosovo/UNMIK”.

Serbs divided in understanding separation from Kosovo (N1)

Serbia’s citizens are split in understanding what the term separation from Kosovo means, with 41 percent saying they know the meaning and 39 admitting they have no clue, shows the latest opinion poll by the Demostat, investigative publishing centre, the Beta news agency reported on Friday.

The poll was conducted from October 7 to 18 and covered 1,200 people.

She added lack of translators and backlog of court cases, some of which became outdated or are about to become are the main issues affecting the integrated judiciary in the north.

Stevanovic underlined that the decision on continuity in recognizing decisions from the Serbian courts is not respected.

Both presidents back separation, Pristina’s analyst says (Danas, N1)

The presidents of Serbia and Kosovo are main advocates of the separation between Pristina and Belgrade, Shkëlzen Maliqi, Kosovo ’s political analyst tells the Belgrade Danas daily on Monday, warning about possible effects on Bosnia.

Speaking about the deals between Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci and about a final stage of the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue, Maliqi, also a philosopher and an art critic, said it was interesting to what extent the two had similar stands.
