Joksimovic: If there is no solution, there would be no status quo (Tanjug)

Director of the Centre for Foreign Policy, Aleksandra Joksimovic told Tanjug news agency that Belgrade-Pristina negotiations are entering the final phase and the picture would be clearer in September whether there would be a legally binding agreement on normalization of relations between the two sides.

According to Joksimovic it goes in no one’s favour to prolong the resolution of the Kosovo issue.

EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia is a signal and a message there is a perspective for the Western Balkans, Centre of Foreign Policy Director Aleksandra Joksimovic told RTS.

Speaking for the RTS news edition, Joksimovic said the EU went through number of crisis and was focused on its internal affairs. She added a period of EU consolidation is expected, however, the EU realized it has to bring its focus back to the Western Balkans region.

The entire region is at a crossroad and it is expected certain open issues to be closed. For Serbia it is the normalization of relations with Pristina, Centre for Foreign Policy Director, Aleksandra Joksimovic told RTS.

According to Joksimovic often visits of the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini to Serbia and other countries in the region speak about EU enlargement focus and attempt to give to the Western Balkans clear European perspective.

Centre for Foreign Policy Chairperson, Aleksandra Joksimovic told Serbian media that EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini with arrival to Belgrade showed a clear support to the Serbian side.

“Usual format of visits to the region includes tours in Belgrade and Pristina. The visit to Belgrade only, indicates a concrete and a clear support to Serbia, since Pristina is responsible for the violence in the north of Kosovo,” Joksimovic told RTS.
