Festival Aims to Bridge Kosovo-Serbia Divide (Balkan Insight)

The annual Miredita, Dobar Dan! Festival presents Kosovo Albanian films, exhibitions and theatre plays in the Serbian capital in a bid to rebuild relations between the two peoples.

A four-day arts festival, whose name means Good Day in Serbian and Albanian, will present the Kosovo Albanian cultural scene to Belgrade audiences from May 30 to June 2.

Centre for Foreign Policy Chairperson, Aleksandra Joksimovic told Serbian media that EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini with arrival to Belgrade showed a clear support to the Serbian side.

“Usual format of visits to the region includes tours in Belgrade and Pristina. The visit to Belgrade only, indicates a concrete and a clear support to Serbia, since Pristina is responsible for the violence in the north of Kosovo,” Joksimovic told RTS.

No official reply from Belgrade on Thaci’s visit (RFE)

Kosovo’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi, told Radio Free Europe that Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci has already accepted the invitation to take part in a conference of EU integration of Western Balkans set to take place on 24 April in Belgrade. Kosovo police arrest Serb suspected of planning attack (Reuters)

Kosovo police have arrested a Serbian national suspected of planning a terrorist attack, the interior minister told a news conference on Friday.

The suspect, from Belgrade, was arrested on Thursday evening with 12.2 kilos (27 pounds) of explosives in his car in a street in the Kosovan capital Pristina where many Western embassies are located, Skender Hyseni said.

"We suspect the clear aim of this person was to commit a terrorist attack," he told journalists.

Jahjaga decides not to go to Belgrade (Gazeta Blic)

President of Kosovo has sent a negative reply to the organisers of the Trilateral Commission meeting set to take place in Belgrade from 31 October to 2 November. Klan Kosova sources from Jahjaga’s office said the President informed the organisers in a letter. She justified her decision with internal developments in Kosovo and efforts to facilitate the dialogue between political parties so that new institutions are formed as soon as possible.
