Independent Liberal Party (SLS) led by Slobodan Petrović and the Alliance of Kosovo Serbs led by the former Mayor of Graçanicë/Gračanica, Bojan Stojanović, signed today a memorandum of integration by which the two parties reunited. These two political options were one political party four years ago, and just before the last Kosovo local elections, Stojanović left the SLS and formed the Alliance of Kosovo Serbs. Memorandum of reunification was signed on 11th anniversary of SLS.

The Presidency of the Kosovo Assembly adopted a decision to discuss the issue of border demarcation with Montenegro on September 1, confirmed to RTV Kim Slobodan Petrović.

Petrović referred to the incident when Glauk Konjufca, from the Self-Determination movement, threw tear gas during a session of the Presidium caucus.

“Serbian community in Kosovo is not able to impose itself as a political factor and that is our biggest problem. The economic situation has worsened, in particular due to the silent budget cuts from Serbia, and also because international community is currently focused only on the north. Due to the poor economic situation, more and more Serbs decide to go. Never less Serbs lived in Kosovo then now,” said Slobodan Petrović, vice president of the Assembly of Kosovo.

If the attempt to elect a new president for Kosovo fails, parliamentary elections will be automatically scheduled, and this will prolong the deadlock of the formation of the Association / Community of Serb Municipalities (A/CSM), to least until the summer. Even if Hashim Thaci were to gain the support required for his election as President, there is a possibility that he will soon dissolve the Assembly, as an answer to the political instability in Kosovo.

Slobodan Petrovic, Deputy President of the Kosovo Assembly considers that the election of Hashim Thaci for President is the best solution in this situation, although Belgrade accused Thaci for war crimes and organ trafficking. "Hashim Thaci is the only candidate for president, proposed by the ruling coalition. He is the best solution for this position, considering the current situation in Kosovo. If he is not elected, elections will be scheduled, and this will further complicate the situation in Kosovo," said Petrovic.

Deputy President of the Assembly of Kosovo Slobodan Petrovic says that the incidents in Gorazdevac and Srbobran show that a greater involvement of the police is necessary in the Serbian areas.

Petrovic on Wednesday visited Gorazdevac with President of the Kosovo Parliament Kadri Veseli, and urged the competent authorities to urgently find and punish the perpetrators who fired shots in Gorazdevac and Srbobran.

"We are all clear that in the past few months we had a lot of challenges and problems. I expect that the new mayor will have much more success in the implementation of the projects and objectives that will ensure a better life for our citizens," said Slobodan Petrovic, leader of the Independent Liberal Party.

In the extraordinary elections for the Mayor of Gracanica, Independent Liberal Party supported Vladeta Kostic from CI Srpska.

While in opposition in Pristina believe that the Serbs would be the deciding factor in the executive branch in Kosovo, Slobodan Petrovic believes that the new cabinet members will not have too much influence, but will work in the interests of their community.

He repeated that it was not important only a number of ministries but also  people who would lead the ministries, and that they would show their best now and wished them much success.

The leader of the SLS, Slobodan Petrovic said that the selection of Jasmina Zivkovic as Vice President of the Assembly of Kosovo is breach of agreement reached within the Serbian list and that this function should belong to him.

“I am sure that in the new government of Kosovo the Serbs will not have less than the current number of ministerial positions,” says Slobodan Petrović president of the Independent Liberal Party.  He added that it is very important which ministries will be led by the Serbs and who will lead them.
