NISMA expected to address Constitutional Court on President Thaci’s involvement in Drenas municipal elections? (Indeksonline)

The news website reports that the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) is planning to seek an opinion from the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on President Hashim Thaci’s involvement in the municipal elections in Drenas/Glogovac. NISMA officials however have neither denied nor confirmed the information. Citing unnamed sources, Indeksonline reports that NISMA is planning to hire an international lawyer for the matter. The same sources said NISMA have collected sufficient material which they hope will prove to the court that President Thaci is violating the Constitution.

Bahtiri: Works on the wall have stopped (Indeksonline)

The Mayor of Mitrovica, Agim Bahtiri, told the news site that the works on building the wall in northern side of Iber River have been stopped. Bahtiri also said Kosovo side is cooperating with the European Union to seek answers from Serbia for the construction of this wall. “We are consulting with government officials in Pristina, and we're looking at what should be done in the coming days. We currently managed to stop the work and we are working closely with the European Union to resolve this problem,” Bahtiri said.

Hoxhaj hails NATO letter saying it heralds a new stage in relations with Kosovo (Indeksonline)

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj hailed today in a press conference a letter the government of Kosovo received from NATO Secretary General saying it opens a new stage in Kosovo’s relations with the alliance. Hoxhaj said strengthening of interaction with NATO will contribute to stability and security in Kosovo. This, according to Hoxhaj, will also prepare Kosovo for meeting all preconditions for joining NATO’s Partnership for Peace programme.

Tahiri: Wall in north of Mitrovica, contrary to Kosovo laws and Brussels agreement (Indeksonline)

Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, today participated in the conference “The investigation of sexual and gender-based violence - challenges and opportunities for forensic coordination" organized by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX). Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj, met today Austria’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Gernot Pfandler. Hoxhaj and Pfandler discussed the cooperation between Kosovo and Austria, with particular focus in the action plan 2017 where concrete joint activities were defined. “The focus of this plan is to intensify economic cooperation, Austria’s support for Kosovo in the path of Euro-Atlantic integration and support for Kosovo's membership in international organizations,” notes a press release issued by Foreign Ministry.

Government announces new initiatives on demarcation (Indeksonline)

Government hopes on Serbian List and opposition votes to pass demarcation (Indeksonline)

The news website reports that the draft budget for 2017 is being kept “hostage” by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) at the parliamentary committee for budget and finance. Although, Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) representatives said they have agreed to pass the draft budget, a PDK MP has a different position. Shukri Buja, a member of the parliamentary committee on budget and finance, told the news website that the PDK has yet to make a final decision to vote in favor of the current version of the budget.

Tahiri: Deadline for implementation of reciprocity agreement on license plates, is due today (media)

Edita Tahiri, Kosovo’s Minister without portfolio engaged in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade in Brussels, told Radio Free Europe today that due to the administrative delays, Kosovo authorities did not manage to start with the implementation of the agreement for full reciprocity on the license plates between Kosovo and Serbia and remove the so-called “proba” license plates which were implemented unilaterally by the Serbian party since 2011. According to her, today is the due date for implementation of the agreement. “It did not start yet.
