Kosovo Police arrest Zekerija Qazimi (Telegrafi)

Kosovo Police today arrested Zekerija Qazimi, imam of the El-Kuddus mosque in Gjilan/Gnjilane. Police also arrested another terrorist suspect, Lulzim Kabashi, from the village of Polac, Skenderaj municipality. Both persons are suspected of recruitment for terrorist activities, organization and participation in a terrorist group, and for inciting hatred, division and lack of national, racial, religious and ethnic tolerance.

Selimi: Hoxhaj has not called for participation in Syrian war (Telegrafi)

Kosovo institutions, namely Minister of Foreign Affairs Enver Hoxhaj, has never made a call for supporting opposition forces in Syria, said Deputy Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi. He said there are attempts by certain individuals to mask their actions with a meeting Kosovo Government officials had with Syrian democratic opposition in Pristina. Selimi said Kosovo will always support all those who pursue Euro-Atlantic policies.

Burim Ramadani, Secretary General of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), hailed today’s arrests of supporters of ISIS and Al-Nusra in Kosovo. “Actions by Kosovo’s security institutions are needed to prevent threats against national security and the lives and properties of the people. The latest actions and the arrest of Jihadists of ISIS and Al-Nusra in Kosovo are good news and a necessary reaction by security institutions. It would have been better however not to allow their numbers to grow like this.

Osmani: Williamson’s report, bitter and good news (Telegrafi)

Democratic League of Kosovo MP, Vjosa Osmani, said the report of the Special Investigative Task Force prosecutor Clint Williamson is both good and bitter news and called for justice for all victims.

She said Williamson’s report is bitter for Kosovo’s international image and that “it is enough to only read international media in the last two days to understand this”.

Kurti: We could head to new elections in September or October (Telegrafi)

Vetevendosje Movement, although the third largest party and known for its firm stances particularly about relations between Kosovo and Serbia, seems to have the decision on whether to send Kosovo to new elections or not in its hands.

“From violence to empowerment” – new manual for victims of domestic violence (Telegrafi)

The EU-funded project “Reintegration of domestic violence victims” will present today the manual called “From violence to empowerment” which will provide a guideline to the safe houses for victims of domestic violence and providers of public services.

The project is being implemented by Reggio Terzo Mondo and the Kosovo Shelter Coalition and is funded by the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).

Gjakova/Djakovica to benefit from anti-corruption project (Telegrafi)

Mayor of Gjakova/Djakovica, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, singed with the UNDP representative, Andrew Russell, a memorandum for an anti-corruption project.

“International cooperation and awarded projects without a doubt will result in the increase of the level of services in the Municipality of Gjakova, increase of transparency, social reintegration and economic sustainability”, said Kusari-Lila.
