Opposition parties form joint anti-government front (media)

The Vetevendosje leader, Visar Ymeri, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) leader Fatmir Limaj, told a press conference in Pristina today that they have agreed to form a joint anti-government front. The opposition leaders said that starting from Friday they will organize a petition throughout Kosovo in opposition to the formation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, the agreements reached in Brussels and the border demarcation with Montenegro.

Vetevendosje activists throw paint at Prime Minister’s car (media)

All news sites report that several activists of the Vetevendosje Movement threw paint at the car of Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa as he was going to work this morning. The Vetevendosje Movement claimed responsibility for the act saying that they want to remind Mustafa that he should not damage the state of Kosovo by forming the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. Vetevendosje spokesperson Frasher Krasniqi told Telegrafi:“the idea [behind the action] is to obstruct the work of a man who is making Kosovo dysfunctional”.

Government condemns attack on PM Mustafa’s car (RTK)

Government of Kosovo has condemned today’s paint attack on the Prime Minister Isa Mustafa’s vehicle by Vetevendosje activists. In a statement, the government said the act is unacceptable and damaging for Kosovo. “The Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to a constructive political debate within the Republic of Kosovo institutions with all political and civil society representatives and assures the citizens of Kosovo that such events will not stop our mission for economic development, rule of law and European integrations,” the statement reads.

Vetevendosje to oppose agreement on telephone code "by all means" (Koha)

The Vetevendosje Movement through a press release announced that it will oppose by all means the execution of the agreement on the telephone code that was signed between Kosovo and Serbia on 25 August. “Kosovo's path to obtain international telephone code is by applying for membership on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva. This route does not pass through Belgrade nor through Vienna,” notes the press release. “ITU is a UN agency, same as UNESCO.

Kurti: We are getting ready for powerful protests (Telegrafi)

Former Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti said in an interview for Radio Dukagjini that they are making all preparations to stage protests against the government of Kosovo. He said that Vetevendosje officials are already organizing gatherings with people in different cities to inform them about what the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities really brings. “We could have organised protests but we want them to be powerful and this is why we are taking more time to prepare future protests,” said Kurti.

 

Deda: Serbia should admit its faults, then we can reconcile (Gazeta Express)

Vetevendosje deputy, Ilir Deda, stated during the “Building Albanian- Serb ties” conference in Mitrovica that Kosovo and Serbia have hostile relations. “Normalization of the relations does not come by stating that we do not recognize Kosovo, or when Serbs oppose to that extent membership at UNESCO. Only reciprocal recognition can bring normalization between the two countries,” Deda said.

Vetevendosje movement considers that the agreement signed by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, gives Serbia full rights to control municipalities with Serb majority, and leads Kosovo towards its federalization. They also consider that this agreement will make Kosovo dysfunctional and a great part of the territory will be managed by Serbian state. Also, according to them, Kosovo will lose many natural resources, which will make its economic development impossible.

Vetevendosje activists throw red pain at Mitrovica municipality building (Telegrafi)

Vetevendosje activists gathered today in the front of Mitrovica Municipality building to oppose the establishment of the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities and threw red pain at the entrance door. Activists called on the municipal assembly members to initiate a resolution against the establishment of the Association/Community. Kosovo Police reacted by trying to disperse the protesters which, they said, did not announce the protest beforehand as required by law.
