The Serbian Government has sent financial aid in the amount of one million euros to France for the reconstruction of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, that was badly damaged in a catastrophic fire in the night of April 15, B92 reported quoting the statement of the government.

The government said that this decision "confirms centuries of friendship with the French people and expresses the desire to rebuild the symbol of French and global civilization as soon as possible and open this temple of culture and art for all of its future devotees."

President Aleksandar Vucic says Serbia has been offered nothing resembling "dual sovereignty" over the north of Kosovo.

Therefore, nothing of the kind will happen in Berlin, Vucic told a news conference on Thursday. The meeting will take place at the end of April, dedicated to Kosovo and organized by Germany and France.

"Shared sovereignty is always something that is a problematic legal category, while the so-called dual sovereignty - I don't know what that means. But nobody told me that, nobody offered us that, and something like that will not happen in Berlin," he said.

Correspondent of the Belgrade based news agency Beta from Brussels, Dragan Blagojevic told N1 that the international dimension of the Kosovo problem is reflected in the internal plan - elections.

"Obviously, this is double-tied, as merged vessels. I see the postponement of the decision on elections in function, among other things, not only of internal politics, but it is obvious that Kosovo had a specific weight," Blagojevic says.

The Serbian President and leader of the ruling SNS party told a party gathering in Belgrade that he would face a request to recognize a full independence of Kosovo, without divisions and "full and integral territory of an independent Kosovo," Serbian media reported.

He said he would speak with the presidents of China and Russia in Beijing and then head to Berlin for very difficult meetings with the leaders of France and Germany.

Former head of the Coordination Center for Kosovo and Metohija, Nebojsa Covic told RTS he thinks there is a realistic danger of new conflicts because “Kosovo attempts to roundup its sovereignty.” According to him, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emanuel Macron want to overcome the problems in Kosovo and continue the dialogue, however that is not possible, Covic stressed.

Another motive may be hiding behind the German-French invitation to Serb and Albanian leaders to gather in Berlin under the slogan of cooperation in the region. This motive could be, according to media reports, to exert pressure on Belgrade to agree to continue the dialogue with Pristina, without Pristina abolishing its tariffs on Serbian products first.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed he would respond to the invitation by Germany and France and meet with Pristina representatives in Berlin on April 29.

Speaking in a press conference, after the meeting with Kosovo Serb political representatives Vucic said he has been invited to visit Berlin along with the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, adding Hashim Thaci and Ramush Haradinaj are also invited.

Sooner or later the EU must accept Serbia and other Western Balkans states as its members, since it is the only way to “preserve” these countries from the influence of other stakeholders, foremost Russia and China, diplomatic sources unofficially told Belgrade-based daily Danas.

They noted “the enlargement is the only tool at the Union’s disposal when it comes to the Balkans,” although it remains completely uncertain if 2025 would be a year of Serbia’s and Montenegro’s accession to the EU.

The director of the Serbian Cultural Center in Paris says the disputed exhibition marking 20 years since NATO started bombing Serbia "has not been removed". Radoslav Pavlovic added that the exhibition has not been removed, but that some parts have been "rolled up."

French Ambassador to Serbia Frederic Mondoloni told TV N1 on
Thursday that his country’s President Emmanuel Macron should visit Serbia in
July, adding Paris wants “a strong Europe and a strong Serbia in the European
Union.”
