Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, on the second day of his to Croatia, met with the leader of the opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Tomislav Karamarko. The meeting focused on the good cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in the area of economy and the process of Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration. Thaci informed his interlocutor about the achievements of Kosovo in the consolidation of rule of law and focus on economic development.
The government of Kosovo has issued a press release which informs that Minister for dialogue, Edita Tahiri, met during her visit in Brussels with the officials of the European Union. The focus of their discussions was acceleration on implementing all the agreements reached in the Brussels dialogue. She met with Anna-Maria Eleni Boura, Special adviser for the dialogue from the Office of the EU High Representative, Frederica Mogherini, as well as with Nicholas Cendrowics and Alexis Hupin, facilitators of different fields of the dialogue.
Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, participated on Tuesday in a joint conference on socio-economic development of Kosovo, organized by the government of Kosovo, the European Union Office in Kosovo and the World Bank. At this meeting, Prime Minister Mustafa has expressed the need for a greater assistance in Kosovo from the European Union and other European institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, the German Development Bank.
The front-page editorial writes that the European Union has spent millions of euros, together with the Kosovo government, to build a facility with proper working conditions for all employees of the judiciary. The paper writes that the inauguration of the Palace of Justice yesterday was a modest step forward, but the main challenge are still there. “The judicial and prosecution systems in Kosovo are not independent. There is a heavy violation of human rights, abuses, massive corruption and organized crime in state institutions.
Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaci, writes in his opinion piece today about the priorities of the Ministry that he leads, starting from Kosovo’s integration in the European Union and NATO to signing of the Stabilization Association Agreement, liberalization of visas for Kosovo population, application for membership at the Council of Europe, and gaining of the guidelines for Partnership for Peace with NATO.
