Halil Matoshi argues that Kosovo’s society considers opposition’s objection to any initiative in favor of the Euro-Atlantic integration as proclaiming war against western democracy, against the U.S. and the EU. He notes that using a false cause could lead the opposition toward becoming a history.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, met today in Pristina the European Union Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, Angelina Eichhorst. During the meeting, Thaci underlined the commitment of the government of Kosovo on the path towards EU membership. "I thanked Mrs. Eichhorst for the support that the EU continues to give Kosovo. The SAA opens new opportunities for our citizens, but also stimulates the economic development.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, met today in Pristina the EU director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, Angelina Eichhorst. During the meeting Mustafa mentioned the continual progress being achieved in Kosovo, and special commitment of the government of Kosovo to advance European integration processes.

Deputies of the Serbian List in the Kosovo Parliament supported yesterday the Law on ratification of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, but have abstained from vote on an amendment to the agreement which stipulates that Kosovo in agreement instead of asterisk is referred to as the Republic of Kosovo.

The front page of this daily notes that no one can question the importance of the Stabilization Association Agreement, despite the legal and political specifications due to the EU’s neutrality toward Kosovo’s status. However, except for the opportunities, SAA involves a range of duties and priorities that should be in the agenda of the governing officials of Kosovo.

Pristina on Monday changed the Stabilization and Association Agreement it signed with the EU. 

Pristina has signed the SAA agreement as Kosovo* - but the yesterday session of the Assembly, that ratified the agreement, also passed an amendment that replaced the asterisk - which in official documents points to a footnote referring to Kosovo's status - with the term "the Republic of Kosovo."

Following the ratification of the Stabilization/Association Agreement with the European Union, First Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci told reporters in the Assembly hall that Kosovo will now assume new obligations and responsibilities. “These responsibilities will be directly linked to the implementation of certain criteria that are required to move forward with reforms in the legislation and the economy.

With 86 votes in favor, the Assembly of Kosovo today ratified the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the European Union. The opposition MPs left the session before the voting process began as a sign of protest to the recent EU-brokered agreement with Serbia. The Assembly also approved the amendment to add the word Republic before the name of Kosovo in this document. Kosovo’s European Integration Minister, Bekim Collaku, said that as a result of this agreement, the fate of Kosovo will be more closely linked to the EU.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, today expressed regret over the opposition boycotting the vote on the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) in the Assembly. According to him, this action cannot diminish at all the importance of this agreement. "Congratulations to all for the ratification of the SAA, the first contractual agreement between the Kosovo and the EU. This happy event marks a long-awaited success for Kosovo in meeting the aspirations of our people for European integration.

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, through a press statement welcomed the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) in the Assembly today. "Today we were united, despite our political differences, and together we made this vital step for the citizens of Kosovo, to strengthen the European perspective of our country. Today we started the irreversible way to make Kosovo a member of the European Union. This journey continues to be full of sacrifices and we must be attentive to the long list of priorities.
