Pristina seeks official reply from Skopje over Kumanovo events (Telegrafi)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa have expressed their deep concern over the recent events in Kumanovo, FYROM, and condemned any involvement of the people of Kosovo. After a meeting today, Jahjaga and Mustafa called for a transparent and credible investigation into the recent events and expressed the readiness of Kosovo institutions to help in the process. “Republic of Kosovo remains committed to a multiethnic, stable Macedonia, committed to equal rights for all communities and implementation of Ohrid Agreement,” a joint Jahjaga-Mustafa statement reads.

Jahjaga: Kosovo in the final stage of fulfilling criteria for visa liberalization (Koha)

Kosovo’s President Atifete Jahjaga said on Monday that Kosovo is on its final stage of fulfilling the criteria for visa liberalization. “We are in the final stage of fulfilling the criteria of the European Commission and the fulfillment of these criteria is now a matter of our political will to conclude the process,” Jahjaga said. She also said that during this year, Kosovo had different challenges and tensions which should be understood as a call to deepen the reform in Kosovo and to pave the way for economic prosperity for its people.

Sheikha Fatima to sponsor UAE-funded children’s hospital in Kosovo (The National)

ABU DHABI // Kosovo has awarded Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak the Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal in appreciation for her constant commitment to improving people’s living conditions across the world. Under the directives of Sheikha Fatima, chairwoman of the General Women’s union and widow of founding President Sheikh Zayed, a UAE-funded children’s hospital will be built in Pristina, capital of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga received a group of girls from Kosovo and Serbia (dailies)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga met on Thursday with young girls from Kosovo and Serbia, participating in the Peace Academy for Girls, and answered their questions on the role of women. Jahjaga commended the girls who are part of this platform of building bridges of cooperation and sustainable peace.

Bulgarian President visits Kosovo (Koha)

Bulgaria's President, Rosen Plevneliev, is visiting Kosovo today. President Plevneliev met with Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, and Kosovo Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli. Plevneliev and Jahjaga discussed the cooperation between Kosovo and Bulgaria and Bulgaria’s investments in Kosovo. During the meeting, Jahjaga asked for Bulgaria’s support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration.  Meanwhile, Bulgarian President Plevneliev stressed that Kosovo and Serbia need to normalize their relations. Rosen Plevneliev, is the first Bulgarian President to visit Kosovo.

Jahjaga: We will establish special court (Telegrafi)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga met today the US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues Stephen Rapp with whom she discussed the Constitutional Court amendments that pave way for establishment of the special court. Jahjaga said the Kosovo institutions remain committed to establishing the special court as an international obligation.

Jahjaga: Women still don’t enjoy equal treatment in society (Gazeta Blic)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga said women and girls in Kosovo still do not have equal treatment in the society and added that the path to achieving equal rights is not easy. Jahjaga made the remarks in a conference on women’s rights in Pristina. She said the although Kosovo has an advanced legal infrastructure on the issue of women’s rights, there is still work to be done by the institutions and the society as a whole to put implement those laws.

The Special Court is near (Politiko.net)

Members of the Kosovo Assembly will vote on the establishment of a special court that will address war crimes allegations, in late April or early May. Unnamed sources told Politiko that this timeline has been agreed by Kosovo institutions and international officials, unless there are no unexpected developments. Hashim Thaci and Isa Mustafa, the leaders of the two biggest parties in Kosovo, as well as President Atifete Jahjaga, have expressed full support for the establishment of the court.

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said today in Pristina that ever since she has taken office she has restored the trust of the people in the institution of the President. “My impressions as President, based on institutional experience, as the first constitutional and non-party President, has been to depoliticize and restore the trust of the people,” Jahjaga said during a debate organized by Pristina-based FOL non-governmental organization. Jahjaga said she was not satisfied with the approach of respective institutions in the fight against corruption.

President Jahjaga meets Roma community representatives (Indeksonline)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, met today with political and civil society representatives of the Roma community in Kosovo, on the occasion of the International Roma Day. Jahjaga highlighted the values of respecting ethnic, cultural and religious diversity in Kosovo. She said it was very important to integrate all communities living in Kosovo, including the Roma community, and that this is one of the priorities of Kosovo institutions. Jahjaga called on the Roma community to be more active and express its needs through the Consultative Council for Communities led by the President.
